Will you be satisfied if Kelli O'Hara wins the Tony? I think her performance in South Pacific was stellar and magnificent and with two nominations already under her belt I feel this can be her year.
I'll be rooting for her on Tony night.

While I feel the Tony is Patti's, and rightfully so, I would be THRILLED if Kelli walked off with it.
Now that we have all of the leading ladie's reviews. Patti definitely got the best reviews. Followed by Kelli and Jenna.
No, I'd be embarrassed.
I kind of really think it should go to Patti, but if Kelli got it I wouldn't be mad. I thought she was great and I would be able to understand the reasoning and all. So yeah, she wouldn't be my top choice but I think she is deserving nonetheless! (And it would be nice to see her walk off with her first Tony).
I would be happy for the "I'm glad she got one" reason. But I think the Tony is Patti's.
Hate to say it, but I would not be happy if Kelli got the tony. I know I'm probably alone on this but she didn't wow me in South Pacific.

So now that Faith Prince's reviews are out, who do we think the fifth slot will go to?
1. Jenna Russell
2. Patti LuPone
3. Kerry Butler
4. Kelli O'Hara
5. Faith Prince or Mandy Gonzalez?
Absolutely not. Something's very wrong if that were to be the outcome.
Several actresses in this season's musicals on Broadway are giving astonishing performances, but Ms. LuPone is having the kind of success in a role that, IMO, pushes the others to the sidelines.
I don't understand why the Leading Actress in a Musical Tony isn't being labeled as a done deal for Ms. LuPone to the degree it should be. It's just one of those landmark performances that warrants the recognition.
It isn't? I'm sure it is.

It is, and always has been, LuPone's award to lose. No matter how strong the competition is/was.
Butler, LuPone, Prince, O'Hara, Russell.
If this year were like last, Gonzalez would be nominated in the Laura Bell Bundy slot.

Despite her performance not getting the over the top raves we all hoped for, Faith Prince will still get nominated.
And it's still LuPone's. And if O'Hara wins I will not throw a brick at my TV (kidding) like I did win LaChanze beat LuPone for whatever stupid reason a few years ago, but I will be disapointed, though happy to see a fine young actress get some recognition.
As I've said before, Gypsy will win Actress, Featured Actor and Featured Actress.

NOT AT ALL. *Blows raspberry*
She's talented, but there is no circumstance that I would be happy if she won the award this year (with at least three performances that I found better than hers).
I would be upset because, as much as I enjoyed her in South Pacific, her performance is not in the same league as LuPone's.
LuPone should, and rightfully will, win the award. I don't think it's going to be nearly as close as some people are predicting.
not particularly. honestly, the only person I'd be even close to happy to see win the Tony over Patti is Jenna Russell, and I doubt that's going to happen.
Kelli O'Hara has a lovely voice, is adorable and is giving, according to the reviews, a great performance in South Pacific. but as someone already pointed out, her reviews were nothing like that Patti got for Gypsy. this is Patti's year.
I would be thrilled if Kelli O'Hara won this year's Best Actress Tony.
Only if they gave Patti the Nobel Prize instead.

Kelli deserved the Tony for Clara in Piazza. Can we just retroactively give her one for that?
I like her and would be happy for HER. But I would not agree with the choice in this case.
Ugh, no.
"LuPone should, and rightfully will, win the award. I don't think it's going to be nearly as close as some people are predicting."
See, that's what I'm saying adamgreer. Despite some INCREDIBLE performances this season(with Ms. Russell's definitely ranking higher for me than Ms. O'Hara's), they still, IMO, don't touch Ms. LuPone's.
The raves she's received, both from theatre-goers and professional critics, are the once in a lifetime type praise that I would think would make this award a given, as opposed to a close competition, in the minds of more people than it has. What I'm saying is that I'm surprised by the Tony predicting given the reaction to Ms. LuPone's performance. That's all.
I would be happy if she won. I thought she was incredible. I saw Patti Lupone last summer in GYPSY and won't see her again until this summmer. So, I really can't compare the two performances at this time and won't be able to until after the Tonys are over.
