Winners and losers of Hamilton obc a year later

Has there been any surprises in who you thought would be more/less successful post Hamilton?
Taking LMM out of the equation, I would say that Ramos has exceeded my expectations and Odom has not gotten the opportunity I thought he would have. Diggs is making moves, Jackson has a steady gig but it's an underwhelming show. Jasmine is kinda swimming but I think she's likely to break through and it's a benefit that her dad is getting acclaim and mentions her often. Renee is yet to be seen and Soo had a flop.

So, have the ones you thought would be bigger sink or vice versa?

Broadway is in no big hurry to get him back --- there's a reason why within the industry he's known as Leslie Odious Jr.

I don’t remember the answer to this but his whole comment that he wasn’t going to be in the OBC taping then was etc. to me suggests that he was trying to play a hard negotiating game (maybe with legitimate reasons, who knows).

I don’t think anyone involved in Hamilton will have (or has - except LMM) mega success on the back of this show. This industry is hard - especially for POC. The show was bigger than the cast contributions.
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Leslie "Odious" Jr.? Huh- when I conversed with him at the New Dramatists luncheon, he was so friendly. He even asked me to take a selfie with him.

I get the strong feeling that some of the older OBC are happy in semi-retirement. Renee and Leslie have both talked about not wanting to open another show and do the whole 8 shows a week thing. They both have young kids now, I can definitely see them picking and choosing their projects.

Pippa has done pretty well. A lead role in a (bad) musical, followed by a lead role in a play right after. She's turning into quite the leading lady.

Ramos, Jas seem to still be finding their way. They certainly got a boost from Hamilton but not enough for either to break out. Daveed should get there with enough hustle though, he's been doing well. Jackson's been doing fine but I don't know how much his career was boosted with Hamilton. Same with Groff - he was already a rising star, I don't know if 9 min of stage time per night in Hamilton made much of a difference. Though of course, it didn't hurt either. 

I ain't touching the Oak thing. Time will tell I guess.

Ramos has been popping up a lot. He's on Will and Grace, Spike Lee's new show, some movies, etc. I think he might be the long term winner of using the role to catapult to a career

Oak has a new Shondaland show. I don't think one needs to even mention PIERRE to say his career is beyond where it was before.

And Diggs is working extensively in TV and even developing projects in film and TV. So, again, quite fine.

I thought it was the entire cast was sharing a percentage point of the box office. Not just each of them earning 1000 a week.

According to Bloomberg, there are 38 (not the 22 the quote will cite) in the profit sharing pool, and they split "...1 percent of net profits from New York, all 22 will now share in 0.33 percent of the net profits from Chicago and all other U.S. productions, except Broadway and future revivals."(https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-hamilton-broadway-profit/)

Diggs is one of the creators of the show "Mayor" on ABC. We may not technically see him on the show (although he has popped up on it), but I think he's doing alright for himself if he sold a show to network TV.

Maybe it’s the holiday and probably it’s because I just saw the show again in Chicago, but I consider anyone that has ever been associated with Hamilton a surefire winner. They will get to say they were part of this landmark show for the rest of their lives. This is my favorite, favorite show (which is saying a lot). So thankful to have seen it twice now.

And he's in the movie Wonder with Julia Roberts. It's a family movie and while not something I would see it's a big family film.

Diggs is definitely the one who has made the most of the past 15 months. Blackish, Kimmy Schmidt, The Mayor,Wonder. I rank him #1. I would rank Ramos #2 bc even though he doesn't have a series or a record, he's popping up everywhere which means that he catches the eyes of casting. Only a matter of time until he hits a homerun

Considering that the general public really did not know who any of them were before Hamilton (with the possible exception of Groff), they've all done pretty well. 

I would agree Diggs probably has the most post-Ham visibility. (And not just because of his hair which has become sort of iconic/recognizable in a very good way.)

Leslie is also in the Nationwide commercial and has his regular album + Christmas album + Orient Express.

Ramos is in all ten episodes of the ten episode She’s Gotta Have It. Are we not counting that as having a series?

Yes, we would. I should have checked IMDb. I assumed he was recurring. He's doing so well!

He’s also got a bunch more movies coming out, including a Spike Lee film
