Posted: 11/20/08 at 11:10pmIn summer 2005, Winokur played opposite Richard H. Blake as Link with Andrew Rannells and Bryan West both putting in a few performances as understudies.

Posted: 11/21/08 at 12:23amWell Constantine clearly looks younger than Bryan and Richard. I haven't seen Andrew in person so I don't know how he would fair against MJW. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Posted: 11/21/08 at 10:25pmDo cast members perform every show? I'd like to take my wife to NYC to see her, but don't want to risk being there on a scheduled "night off." I'm completely clueless, so please help if you can (and be kind! LOL!). I'm planing on a Thursday night. Thoughts?!?! Thanks so much!!!!!!

Posted: 11/21/08 at 11:27pmGT, you asked this exact same question on ATC earlier today and someone there was kind enough to answer your question, so why did you feel the need to ask it here? Did you want someone to say that the leads will be out?? Updated On: 11/21/08 at 11:27 PM

WOW, thanks for the welcome.
Look, I said I was "clueless" - I guess no breaks are given to newbies . . . .
Yes, I did post there and I got 2 responses. One indicated not to worry, the other said to check a source (telecharge), which I did, and which yielded nothing. So I thought I would expand my search to include another message board.
Forgive me for trying to do some research about something I know nothing about before dropping a couple grand to travel across the country to provide my wife with the trip-of-a-lifetime.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:40amAnybody think they would reach out to Dick Latessa as well and have all three TONY-winning Turnblads close the show?

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:46amGT, perhaps she realized that her post came off ruder than she intended. There's no need to get so defensive. Anyway, the easiest and most direct way would be to call the Neil Simon Box Office. :)

Posted: 11/22/08 at 1:58amWIth Winouker performing such a short run I highly doubt she has any vacation time off. Performers in general have 1 night off a week. The day there isn't a scheduled performance (typically a Monday). If she's out, she's either sick or partying it up with Carly Jibson.

Posted: 11/22/08 at 4:28pmYeah GT I wouldn't worry either. She's only coming back for a scheduled 4 week run (32 performances). Unless she's very sick or has a family emergency, she'll be there... as will Harvey. From what I understand, he never misses a show. You're going to have a blast! And welcome to the board!

Well, I figured I would give everyone an update on what happened . . . .
We made the trip, and the night we arrived for the show (Thursday, 12/18, our 15th wedding anniversary), we discovered that MJW was NOT performing! UGH . . . . after all that planning, after all that stress over being SURE she would be there, only to sit down, open our Playbill and have 4 pieces of paper fall out with the names of the 4 understudies who would be performning that night. I was DEVASTATED! Thankfully, my wife took it better than I did. It was only after the show that we discovered that MJW had gotten hurt just the night before. We showed up the next night hoping she might be back, but she wasn't. So off we went.
The show was incredible, and Marissa Perry was playing the part of Tracy that night. I totally could not stand her the first 30 minutes or so, not because of her performance, but because I was still so upset that all my plans to get my wife 4 rows away from MJW had completely flopped. By the second half I was much better, and we had a fabulous time. Oh, and the lady who played Motormouth Maybelle? UNBELIEVABLE solo!!!! I still have chills . . . .
The "Stage Door" experience was quite cool, with the entire cast being so nice and accomodating to the fans. I was really impressed.
What a saga this whole month has been . . . . from the MJW announcement on 11/18, to the preparations to get there, to the show on 12/18 . . . . simply amazing.
Here's a picture of MY Tracy, along with the Hairspray version . . . .
