I mean it would be so nice to have dinner at Sardi's and see BEETLEJUICE again before it closes again. After the show it would be nice to stop for a cocktail and exchange pleasantries with other theater-goers, wouldn't it?
I checked the schedule and there are NO shows performing that night--unless I want to travel all the was to Lincoln Center and that place gives me the creeps.
I think I'll go to the movies that night.

It’s because of the ball drop in Times Square later that evening.

Don't bother. He knows. He's being "funny" and mocking the person who started the Christmas thread.

I saw Brooklyn on Broadway on December 31, 2004. Besides the terrible show, it was not a fun experience trying to get past all the security to the theater and then trying to get out of the Times Square mess afterward. I would never see a Broadway show on New Year's eve unless I was staying in a Times Square hotel on the same side of Times Square as the theater.

We saw Oh Hello on NYE 2016/2017 and it took forever to get to the Lyceum. We saw something at the Mitzi that night (it wasn't that scary) as that was about it for options

Gone are the days when I could see the revival of MAN OF LAMANCHA at the Palace and hang around under the maquee to watch the ball drop.
Sad but true.
