Just out of curiosity, what do you think the next Mega-hit and/or Cult Following be? I know this may be an impossible question to answer as we don't know what's truly in the works, but what work that excites you? I know for instance people knew of the brilliance of Great Comet before it's B'way arrival, same with The Band's Visit, and even Hamilton etc.
I'm very excited to see the future for both Dave Malloy's Moby Dick and the Public's Parable of Sower.
I definitely think if Hadestown transfers it'll garner a cult following, likely drawing Comet's demographics. I doubt it will be a Mega-hit, but I think it will be cemented into the Broadway fandom/cannon in a significant way.
The Bengsons have had two off-bway shows (Sundown Yellow Moon at Ars Nova & Hundred Days at NYTW) open in the past year, with third (The Lucky Ones) opening at Ars Nova in March. Both were NYTimes Critics Picks. I'm kinda surprised they aren't gaining more traction. I didn't love Hundred Days but it was pretty good
Agreed on Hadestown as well, but I think it needs to play to a smaller house, even with the proscenium re-staging.
I don't think Moby Dick will make it to Broadway but I think it'll be a wonderful experience wherever it ends up.
Nothing specific, but there has been a trend of comedians (stand-up and comedy writers, specifically) taking a crack at some theater. "Oh, Hello" was a blast, and Amy Schumer sold crazy tickets for Meteor Shower. Off-Bway, Mike Birbiglia and Chris Gethard both had successful one-man shows which were basically long stand-up sets that dig a little deeper. The comedy world is a rough gig, I wouldn't be surprised if lots of comedians try to cash in a little bit with shows of their own.
I want to see another collaboration between Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein, personally. I know people have reservations with Kinky Boots, but it was still a really good fun show.
I'm DYING to see Sondheim's new show.

Hadestown is my current obsession, I think it's smart and tight and has significantly broader appeal than Comet (For all I adore Comet, it's a pretty effing weird show)
They're waiting for CITS I think and they're smart to, with OOTI's grosses the way they are.
+1 for Hadestown although I think it is a matter of degree. I think it will be more on the Band's Visit level rather than anything bigger.
CITS?

In terms of plays, I think Hangman at the Atlantic will be a hot ticket and the uniquely dark tone will allow it to gain a following
