Make movie casts that would positively not work for any musical you want on film.

hmmm, let's see......it would have to be for chicago if they made it a movie..
Catherine Zeta-Jones.....Velma Kelly
Renee Zellweger.........Roxy Hart
Richard Gere............ Billy Flynn
....................oh wait, they did make that musical a movie and they used that cast, no wonder it was bad
queen latifah was great though!

wow I thought the two girls were great.. it was Queen Latifah who was weak to me personally.. oh well.

I thought the movie was perfectly cast. They all far excceded my and other peoples expectations of what the film would be like.

Note to you both- not you, Benzy.
Instead of starting yet another negative thread used to bash actors and actresses, why not start a more positive one, talking about performances you liked?

Katherine Zeta Jones was amazing. And Renee Zellwegger, though not a phenomenal, did a decent job. She had the attitude of Roxy and her singing was better than a lot of people who call themselves singers.
Just my thoughts...
Oh and Queen Latifah rocked the house!

Catherine was incredible. I'm glad she won the Oscar. Queen Latifah was really great. I thought she was an incredible Mama. Renee was a pretty good Roxy, and Richard Gere's Billy was pretty comical.
I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

i agree, 'chicago' was a great film. BUt back to the FIRST subject:

The Original Sam Goldwyn Guys & Dolls cast (well a few of them anyway!) Brando was passable, but Sinatra's interpretation of Nathan Detroit was HORRIBLE!! Completely did not know what the character represented and as a result, messed up one of the key songs in the Nathan/Adelaide relationship 'Sue Me'. Loesser was reportedly quite verbal about this too, and when he hot-ly confronted Sinatra about his Sue Me interpretation, the two reportedly never talked to each other again! (their meeting ended with a certain 4 letter word followed by off)
