Yes Harry Was heavily Medicated they didn't even want him to do the Matinee today. The Chiropractor cracked his back which I am told is a very bad thing to do for someone who has had back surgery and therefore he was on a lot of vicatin (sp)
Regardless to say however, I've never liked his singing.
i agree that the Man in the Chair should have opened the show... i really don't understand the powers that be who plan the awards show... they complain year after year about low ratings, yet continue with being cheap on the opening act... if they can't start off the show with something special, clearly no one is going to watch!
I thought the opening was uncomfortable. Everyone in the back just looked like, "what are we supposed to do back here?" I think it would have been better if everyone on stage sang. They should have done something bc they had a look like a deer in headlights.

He seemed scared. Just frightend.
I hate broadway for putting on the piece of kaka.
You just made me hate everthing nominated.
I don't understand why they just didn't do one of the performances from the nominated shows as the opening number. Drowsy would have been perfect with the man in chair segue.

The Man in the Chair would have been SOOOOO good!
He sounded even worse at the Tony rehearsal.
Very disappointed with the direction this year. Bring back a host.
it was a terrible opening that was awkward and anticlimactic

The TONY people just need to leave and let ppl with common sense show them how to do the show inorder to have a great show with ratings.

They could have had a hysterical opening with a dark stage and Man in Chair's voice saying "I know what you're thinking. I hope this year's show is good. . ." and led into a monologue about Broadway and musicals.
What they did was completely dull and unimaginative. I don't think it would have mattered if Harry Conick Jr. was singing his best. There was nothing interesting about the opening; a lot of people watching probably thought "oh, they're trotting out these old songs again."
The worst thing about it was when the past winners came up. All I could think about was how much wasted talent had been standing underneath that stage.
UGH.
that was only the beginning of a very dissapointing show.
I thought last year's was even worse. Bernardette Peters singing "Another Opening, Another Show" was painful.
