re: Worst replacements

Thats because she is the best ever!

I knew it when I saw her back in Carousel as a youngster--I said to myself, "Self--that girl is going to be big one day!"

re: Worst replacements

Sorry to be redundant but we all know I was not a fan of Susan Egan in Millie.

re: Worst replacements

I thought Joey Fatone in Rent was far worse than Scary Spice in Rent.

re: Worst replacements

tishabel - though i'm sad to admit, i once was a diehard *nsync fan and joey's nickname was "fat one" for that exact reason

the first time i saw rent was because he was in it, yeah sad to say but true, he could sing but the whole time i was like it's joey - if i hadn't picked up the soundtrack after seeing adam pascal in aida i never would have put the show among my favorites!!

::goes to hide in a corner in shame::

re: Worst replacements

I say, Joey Fatone finally made a show close. Definitely him in Little Shop. He can't play a nerdy guy.

re: Worst replacements

I'm glad someone noticed how bad Susan Egan was in Millie and also Christian Borle was the worst Jimmy imaginable...No one could replace Gavin...What about Vanessa Williams in Into the Woods??? ...well I guess she was the original in the revival but still horrible.

re: Worst replacements

Susan Lucci as Bernadette's replacement in Annie Get your Gun (or any of the other Annie wannabes!)

How did it ever take 3 pages for this one to be brought up?

re: Worst replacements

John Stamos in "Nine"
Melanie Griffif in "Chicago"
Mickey Dolenz wasn't all too hot.
Brooke Shields in "Cabaret"
Jane Leeves in "Cabaret"

Did anyone else like John Secada in "Cabaret?" I saw his very first performance and was BLOWN AWAY at how perpared and comfortable he was in that role so early in his run.

re: Worst replacements

i couldn't stand secada in cabaret and nbc would universally play a clip of him butchering the money song any time they mentioned the show (worst offense-> the night it closed)
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel

re: Worst replacements

exactly, azeller..... Susan Lucci in Annie Get Your Gun.

John Secada in Cabaret was also awful

re: Worst replacements

Looking into my crystal ball -- Brooke Shields for Donna Murphy in WT.

Also definitely Lucci.

So my dear you think you can get to Broadway. Well, let me tell you something. Broadway has no room for people like you. Not the Broadway I know. My Broadway takes people like you and eats them up and spits them out. My Broadway is the Broadway of Merman, and Martin, and Fontaine, and if you think you can build yourself up by knocking other people down... ...GOOD LUCK... Seinfeld

re: Worst replacements

Jon Secada's the devil, and not in a cute way.

re: Worst replacements

I think it's kind of funny that people call McIntyre bland. That's exactly what I thought of Butz, although I loved the rest of the show.

re: Worst replacements

Butz annoys me.

re: Worst replacements

Gee Butz attract me. I like Butz.

re: Worst replacements

See, I thought Norbert brought a lot to a part that didn't really have a heck of a whole lot of to play. He brought these little subtlties to the role that Joey just didn't do. It seemed to me as if he was just going through the motions.

"if i hadn't picked up the soundtrack after seeing adam pascal in aida i never would have put the show among my favorites"
Why has no one gone crazy that they called it a soundtrack? I think this is a new record

re: Worst replacements

I saw Susan Egan in Cabaret and I liked her then. She just wasn't right for Millie. I heard her sing Gimme Gimme and Jimmy and I cringed. She's really not right for the role.

re: Worst replacements

Loretta Swit was magnificent in DROOD. I saw her 6 times!
