Pacific Overtures is HARDLY eligible for this list.
Even a poor production of it (I've heard such mixed things about the revival) contains Sondhim's GLORIOUS score.
Chrysanthemum Tea, Someone in a Tree, A Bowler Hat, Pretty Lady...the list goes on. BEAUTIFUL SONGS!
A beautiful show with a deep and powerful message.
Gettinhep - I saw the Annie revival with Warlow, and I thought it was quite wonderful. I've always been partial to Annie, dare I say it is quite a guilty pleasure.
Warlow was FABULOUS!
Worst PRODUCTION I've seen: Applause
Worst Show: Cats (the score is ok, but the premise is awful. No plot, just Cats dancing. ugh)

CATS (I was 9 years old and bored out of my mind. I think I actually fell asleep lol)
BKLYN (Incredible talent but otherwise... no)
BOMBAY DREAMS (Just didn't really do it for me)

my least favorite show is Phantom of the Opera. I know people ADORE the show but I went with 3 people and 2 of us fell asleep. I don't remember anything about it. I saw it like 3 years ago and all I remember was that he was chasing a girl around. ha, after the show one of my friends turned to me and was like "wasn't that the most beautiful show" and I was speechless.
I could see how it moves people but if just doesn't do it for me.

Pacific Overturtes does qualify for the list. The topic is the worst show I have seen and Pacific Overtures is it. Sorry you disagree. I am new to the boards and it amazes me the number of people who feel their opinions are the only ones who count.

I've seen my fair share of really bad shows; L'il Abner ranks among the worst. Ever.
The first national tour of Rent was pretty bad; sound was terrible, performers had no rapport with audience, the whole show came across as lots of screaming and whining. Definitely didn't live up to the hype.
Moving Out: Such talented dancers & musicians, such uninspired, overcaffeinated choreography.

Musical: Community theater production of Sound of Music. The only reason I didn't leave is that my friend and I were making fun of everyone the whole time under our breaths.
Play: Community college presents "Tartuffe" by Moliere. So awful...
Those are the worst productions. Worst play in and of itself? Cats.

Posted: 1/19/05 at 2:19pmI've seen my share of BAD productions... i.e. tours of "Fosse" and "Chicago", but bad shows? Hands down goes to "Aspects of Love". It's the only time I've almost walked out of the theater... it had great talent (the tour starred the guy from Northern Exposure), but the book was boring and the songs... can you say repetitive. It's the only time I almost left at intermission, but by that point we just wanted to see how bad it could possibly get. (the answer: very, very bad)

Worst shows I have ever seen:
Brooklyn, Dracula, Movin' Out, Drowning Crow, By Jeeves
I know this is only certain peoples opinions, but I just don't see how you can list "Urinetown" and "Cabaret" under the worst shows you've ever seen, and have "Brooklyn" be one of the best. But it is only your opinion...

Dox, did you happen to see Applause at my High School? 'Twas pretty awful. The talent we had was NOT suited to that show.
Hmm...I loved Fame and Cats when I first saw them. But then I was enamored with ANY LIVE THEATRE. Looking back...not so great. Oy...and a HS production of "Quilters". Nice concept, poor book and production.

A reviewer ( of Cats ) for the Village Voice put it best
Watching Cats was like having a Cat pee on your leg for over 2 hours. I heartily agree

Aida. I liked the opening number ("Every Story" I think its called) and "My Strongest Suit" but the show itself was just laughable when you think that they were trying to translate a gorgeous, near flawless opera into a play with a fashion show in the middle.
I also highly disliked Les Miz but since I just got a part in my high school drama clubs production of it and am listening to the CD more, i am beginning to gain a much greater respect for it. The music was beautiful but I did not understand one second of the show. After I watched the movie with Liam Neeson (pretty good movie, FYI), I got pretty much all of it. I am reading the book now for English (abridged) and am truly enjoying it.
Titanic the musical. Talk about a waste of 2 and a half hours. Pure. God. Damn. Pain.

Night Mother - gaw I had first row so I didn't want to fall asleep, cuz thats just rude lol (I remember when I was on stage for The Skin of Our Teeth and I saw my mom asleep in the audience...well lets just say after I talked to her she had tickets for the next days show) but oooh the seets were so uncomfy.
One of the best shows I've seen: Bklyn, Wicked
