Sorry, to say this, but it has to be Hairspray.
I'm always surprised to see people recommend this show to out-of-towners.
I saw it in July, with Carly Jibson and Michael McKean. I'm not sure if Carly was having an off day, but this is one of the few times in recent memory that a broadway show was actually painful for me.
Her performance was flat and not at all what I would have expected from a starring role.
Her performance definitely did not warrant a standing ovation from the audience.
The only other show that I hated that much was Thoroughly Modern Millie

I just really can't take people seriously who say that RENT and CABARET are among the worst shows they've ever seen. I will never understand that - ESPECIALLY Cabaret.
Anyway, to those of you that hated BLOOD BROTHERS, keep an open mind about it - the right production will make you fall in love with it. I adore that show.
Now for the worst I've ever seen (broadway), ranked:
1. Never Gonna Dance
2. The Producers
3. The Look of Love
4. Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All
5. Dracula
6. Bye Bye Birdie (Encores)
7. La Cage Aux Folles (revival)
8. Thoroughly Modern Millie
9. Into the Woods (revival)
10.Little Shop of Horrors (revival)

Eh, Im shocked, some of these shows are usually thought of as gems...well I guess its a matter of opinion. I have never really disliked a show...I guess the one I disliked the most was the revival of JCS. It has ok music but it was so boring. I was young so....anyway, on a positive note, some recent great ones were: Brooklyn, Wicked, La Cage Aux Folles, Aida, Wonderful Town....

I Do, I Do!
I saw it performed in a community theatre by a real estate agent and his wife.
They had no acting credits.
I don't remember how I got there...

Actually I have a new winner:
It is Off Broadway and it is called:
I See Fire In A Dead Man's Eye. It beat PRYMATE.

Corine, three of my friends went to see it and also said it was by far the worst thing they'd ever seen.

It is such a shame. The show has the cutest Producer.
It was PAINFUL. And no way to escape. The agony song went off from Into The Woods.
It is the kind of show that makes no sense and was so twisted and stupid. It was 90 minutes and felt more like 90 days.

Jekyll and Hyde: I'm talking about the movie and the stage show here, not the wonderful 1994 concept album (with the great Anthony Warlow). The show is bad, and the movie is laughable.
Cats: Good music in parts, but the most boring show in history
Guys and Dolls: I know heaps of people like it and it's a
classic and all, but i hate it with a passion. Except for Luck Be a Lady, it's all awful.
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying: Lame. Crap music, boring book.
The Australian Esgee entertainment G & S series: i know not a hell of a lot of people on the board will be familiar with the series, but Simon Gallagher and Jon English did horribly updated verisons of Pirates (which was the least awful) HMS Pinafore and (a perfectly hideous) Mikado (with pooh-bah as a samurai!?!?!?!?!
Awful, awful, awful. They opted for keyboards and drums instead of a full orchestra, and it sounded like the devil had musically directed.

My worst:
"Mamma Mia"
"The Lion King"
I may have to see "On The Record," because when it comes to Denver this July, that will be its last stop. I'd like to say that I saw a real live flop.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell
