Posted: 1/4/12 at 9:33pma 14 year old kid to go in the theater alone? I would wait online with him and let him and his friend go see the show?

Posted: 1/4/12 at 9:40pmThey would. You also wouldn't need to stand on line with him. They don't care who's buying the ticket.

be sure to let the theatre management know what your plans. The theatre is not like a store where you can just come and go.
The ushers or the managers will see the kids alone and ask questions.

Posted: 1/5/12 at 3:41pmI don't see a FAQ's page on their website to possibly answer this question. Having seen the show, I would want to be with my 14 year old when he or she sees it. I just don't see this as a show to drop a 14 year old off to see alone or even with other 14 year olds. JMO

Posted: 1/5/12 at 3:55pmwell, just to be safe... walk the kids in the door to the ticket takers and give them info. Some 14 year olds look big and will get by just fine, but if your 14 year old looks like a small kid, make someone aware that you're aware that they are alone.

No, they won't.

No one who works at the theater will care or even take notice. And you certainly will only be allowed to walk them as far as the ticket-taker...there is no way they will let a non-ticketed person in the front door.

Do theatre workers really care that much on Broadway?
I saw shows alone in London when I was that age! Including ones as potentially as adult as The Book of Mormon!

ClapYo'Hands, no they don't. I've seen unaccompanied teenagers all the time at various shows. I can't speak from personal experience since I wasn't so interested in theatre at that age but I know it's allowed. As long as they're well-behaved, I don't care who's there. In fact, I've witnessed the most problems with the 30 and 40 somethings in terms of texting, talking, etc. (But that's a whole 'nother thread)
Posters here are cautioning that the parent (or whomever is posting this question) may want to consider whether a 14-year-old is mature enough to see a show like BOM by himself. I would tend to agree.
