re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Maybe I'll make it to closing night after all... No guarantees. lol

Tonight ROCKED! The crowd was larger than I've ever seen, was so into it, the cast did their best show I have ever seen... It was just a great day!

And if you saw me get molested by the evil girls on stage, I'm pressing charges so I need witness. I have the evidence; they left kiss imprints this time! lmao (I'm kidding).

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Yay!

I love it when the girls mess with the onstage peeps. I get really annoyed when someone looks all pissed off that they are getting touched. Just sit back, relax, and a have a sense of humor.

I can't wait for the show on Sunday! It is really gonna choke me up, but I want one last show!

I'll be in Row G, I believe. . first row behind the aisle. . so if you see me, say hi re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Nice!

The one time I sat on stage, I realized about half-way through the show that I was dancing in my seat the whole time. .

GAYYYYYYY. .

Oh well, I guess its a testament to the score, eh?

Have fun on stage!

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I will think about it... I accidentally booked an Amtrak train back to Chicago for the day after, thinking it was that Sunday. Otherwise I totally would have.

But I'm also thinking of changing trips. re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Another great show this afternoon! It was also awesome that I got to meet Douglas Carter Beane after the show...such a nice and funny man. I'll be very sad to see it go after tomorrow re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!.

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

lol did anyone else wait in front of the theater back in....November? in roller skates for free tickets to the first preview? The women in front of and behind mauriposa and I both thought Douglas Carter Beane was the star of the show and would not accept our assurances that he was, in fact, the one who wrote the book and not the guy playing Sonny. It was pretty funny :)

That is very sad... I'm not even in town to skate past the theater.

Let me know if anyone important to the show comes! I still need to thank Rob Ahrens for some free tickets...

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I just got home from the final Xanadu performance re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I can't believe how attached I've become to this show. Tonight had a few more technical goofs than I'm used to seeing. . I think someone new was in the sound booth tonight. . there were a few goofs where the wrong sound FXs played at the wrong times. .

JB Wing was on as Calliope tonight, and Tiffany Topol was on for JB Wing's part. . Ms. Wing did an excellent job as Calliope. . She started out a little slow, but got progressively funnier as the night went on. .

During the part where Sonny finds out that Kyra is really a muse. . she ad-libbed "AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE!?!? I guess I am. . that's why we're closing. . " You could tell where all the regulars were. . cuz they all let out a collective groan/laugh.

Elizabeth Stanley was way over-the-top (in a good way) tonight. . she pulled out every trick I've seen and a few new ones. . She played to the audience more than I've ever seen. . and they ate it up. . I don't think the Australian accent thing ever gets old.

I think it was the most evident during "Suddenly." Elizabeth and Max looked like they were having a great time. . being silly and over-the-top. . smiling at each other the whole time. They have great stage chemistry.

So yeah. . now I'm going to be sad for a few days. . . I hope it makes its way back to the midwest during its US tour. . I will really miss this show.

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

aww that sounded amazing. JB's adlib reminds me of Jackie's ad lib for the last show on Broadway, which was absolutely hilarious. i'm glad they had a good last show, not counting the technical problems. [just curious- what went wrong?? ]

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

It wasn't anything big. . I think I just noticed it cuz in theatre I was always a stage manager/light/sound tech. . the sound guy played the "quarter falling down the payphone slot" sound when Danny came in for "Whenever You're Away From Me" instead of the telephone ring sound. . Then another time a sound didn't play that was supposed to, but I forget when. There were two different times I noticed where the mics got turned way up or down during the show on a specific actor. . so during a group number you would just hear one of the actors WAY louder than everyone else for 4 or 8 bars. . then it would mix back down to normal.

It wasn't enough to stop the show. . just little things I noticed cuz I'm a geek.

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Huh. I was so caught up in the closingness that I didn't even notice the technical goofs. I just got back too, and had so so SO much fun! Apparently the Xana-bears' reputation preceded us, because several of the cast were like "we've seen those!!" We were on stage again, you may have seen me in the bright red argyle sweater....my friend and I got measuring-taped during "All Over the World," which was fun. We've never been seated there before. I will miss this show so much!! We "stagedoored" after and everyone who came out was super nice. Sorry my thoughts are so random, I'm still on a Xana-high lol Elizabeth's and Max's voices are what I hear now when I listen to the OBCR. Due to those mixing issues, or maybe just where I was sitting, I heard Jason Michael Snow a lot and he has a fantabulous voice, which I had never really paid attention to before. What else. I wish I would have worn my roller skates. That's all. lol :)

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I agree with everyone, it was another awesome show and JB's adlib was hilarious! I saw Douglas Carter Beane in the audience again sitting with the producers. It was fun to look over at him enjoying the performance. It was very sad to see it go!

P.S. Jessica0414, if that was you in the argyle sweater, I definitely saw your dance moves during the title song...nicely done re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!.

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I had such a great time tonight. . I got all into Theatre 101 review mode before lol.

There were a few goofs, but it didn't keep me from loving every second of the show tonight.

It was really cool to see the cast switched around again. . Tiffany Topol's "Maggie Smith" is hilarious!

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Was anyone else saddened by the fact that the theatre was only like 70% full?

^ Totally re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I know the show is a tough sell and all. . but I just can't believe word-of-mouth didn't do more for this show.

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I agree... I told anyone how great it was, for those who wanted to come. I told a librarian about it, and he was there my last night! Imagine that. lol

Sounds like the last show was fun! So sad I missed it, but I am extremely privileged to have seen it 6+ times here.

So..

How is everyone doing in the wake of our great loss re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Confession. . I was walking around the Grand Ave Blue Line stop today listened to the cast recording. . ummm. . pantomiming "Suspended In Time" against the escalator. .

re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

Chinkie, that was me.....red argyle all the way lol I decided I needed to cram months worth of rocking out into closing night since it's gone now! re: Xanadu/Fanadu love thread!

I can't get "Don't Walk Away" out of my head, they played it at Sidetrack last night and, well, now it's in my head lol at least I have Sonny bear to keep me company!
