Gotta love Broadway on Yahoo! Thanks for the heads up Popular. After watching the clip let me continue to say that the look of this show is absolutely stunning. There is just nothing like it on Broadway! Go PQ!
Thanks! All those clips made me excited again.

I cannot wait to devour this production
I saw it in Chicago and was, apparently, one of the few who loved it.
Sad to hear that "Because I Am A Wife"/"The Woman That I Am"/etc. might have been cut.
That and "She Who Has All" were the most beautiful and moving songs in the show.
Just watched it... GOD I love SJB. She's just such a sweetheart and is so passionate about her character and the show!
Hope to catch it in June...!
I'm sorry, those clips of that chick on an actual pirate ship cracked me up. I hope they are not taking this THAT seriously.

Really? I agree with you that "Because I Am a Wife" shouldn't have been cut, mostly for plot's sake and for a great moment in the spotlight for Stephanie Block. But, even though I really disliked the whole show, I thought "She Who Has All" was one of the most boring songs in it. The sentiment in the song was silly and didn't seem to go along with the rest of the show.
Elizabeth: "Oh, woe is me because, even though I am ruler of all I see, I do not have love and because of that, my life is not nearly as important as that dirty Irish girl's because not only does she rule her shirtless, hunky pirate minion, but she also has LOVE, which is all women can hope to have."
Yes, I'm exaggerating, but I thought the show was about strong women, not women who were strong but also lonely because they don't have the greatest thing in the world-- THE LOVE OF A GOOD MAN.
*edited for crappy punctuation*
I had some trouble understanding what in the hell Linda waws saying when she sang. I just though it sounded pretty, hahaha.
But really, i loved the song.

Hell, if it appeals to you, that's great! I just thought it was an unnecessary song.
Actually SorryGrateful, I think you quite accurately summed up the meaning of "She Who Has All" as it was done in Chicago. When Elizabeth I saw that Tiernan loved Grania enough to come plead for her, she suddenly decided to agree to a prisoner swap because "It's a woman in love who has all".
I was disappointed to see that song still in the recent rehearsal video, but perhaps with some rewritten lyrics or a different context it will make more sense.
It is a pretty melody, in a Martin Guerrish sort of way.

I'll be honest and say that the lyrics were so crappy that I don't believe I paid much attention to the melody. Ah, well.
The way Marcus is talking about his character, it doesn't seem he's been deepended and given motive at all, as per his castcom in which he says pretty much exactly that. Maybe he's just trying to be funny, though.
And I think "She Who Has All" will make more sense, if the parallelism between QEI and Grania is played up from the beginning, as Maltby has said they've had happen. Smart move. Now they just both need to sing the same song at different points in the show (a la Valjean and Javert) and we'll be set.
"I think "She Who Has All" will make more sense, if the parallelism between QEI and Grania is played up from the beginning,"
This could help the song a great deal, but I also wouldn't mind hearing more profound lyrics than "It's a woman in love who has all". In Chicago we saw Elizabeth repeatedly ordering Grania to be killed, so her sudden sentimentality and willingness to let the imprisoned Pirate Queen go free came out of left field.
In the source novel Elizabeth insisted that Grania not be killed but rather be brought in alive because she was still upset about the death of Mary Queen of Scots.
The other problem with "She Who Has All" is that the last 45 minutes of the Chicago version of Pirate Queen was quite literally a ballad marathon, with one slow low energy song after another. They were all pretty ballads, but there were just way too many of them.
oh my gosh!!!!! i am so excited! all those clips of them in costume on the stage were just what i needed to get me more excited for this show. i can't wait!!!

I only know "She Who Has All" from the press rehearsal clips, but I'll say I love it and cannot get it out of my head even if I try.
Anyone else notice that the notes to "Sail the Sea of life/ Trav'lers all are we" are the exact same notes that make up the theme in the Martin Guerre Prologue?
