Hiya. I have a ticket to Take Me Out in a couple weeks and I know they use Yondr pouches. As a type 1 diabetic, my phone reads my glucose monitor that is attached to me and alerts me of low/high blood sugar. Does anyone know if these pouches will still allow that technology to work? (the phone pairs to my Apple Watch so I can see sugars on the watch.) I just want to make sure this technology will still work before I try to get a medical exception.

I saw Take Me Out with two T1 Diabetics in the Spring, but I honestly can't remember what they did to stay safe.

However, I don't think the pouches inhibit any signals though because I remember being warned that if you left your phone on and it rung, you wouldn't be able to do anything about it and would have to wait it out.

Did a Google search and saw that it doesn't block signals.

I did a search as well, but was looking for personal experiences. I have connection issues whenever I’m in the theater, so I wanted to see what others had to say. Thank you!

I used Yondr pouches for my play a few months ago; if there is a legit medical condition where a person MUST have their phone on them , the Yondr reps are authorized to provide a wristband which indicates the audience member is allowed to have their phone.

But of course those people will still be under supervision and if any recording or other malfeasance occurs, they will be ejected from the theater, medical condition or no.

It doesn’t block reception. You just can’t access the phone. I could feel my phone vibrate when I got text messages.

As long as the reception works, I won’t need an ADA exception. Just looking for experiences of other theater goers. Thank you!

I saw the show in May and used the Yondr pouch. The pouch didn't block the blue tooth signal on my phone. I was just sure to silence it, but I left it on vibrate. I'm a Type 2 Diabetic wearing a Freestyle Libre, so I was sure to be especially careful of what I ate the few hours before show time to be more confidant that my glucose levels wouldn't spike or drop while I was in the theater. The fact that you have a smart watch makes your situation more ideal than my own, but I had no problems and don't foresee that you should have concerns about your monitor. Enjoy the show! .

If you need your phone for medical reasons, you will not be required to use the Yondr pouch. You will be given a wristband which indicates to the house staff that you can have your phone. However, your seat location will be given to staff and you will be monitored more closely during the show to make sure you don't use your phone for photos/videos.
