Was anyone there? Any standouts?

I watched the stream yesterday. I realize a lot of these performers are doing this on their off day so they’re already pretty tired. That said, I didn’t think any performances aside from Aaron Tveit’s tribute to Gavin Creel really shone. I thought Jordan Tyson was GREAT in Gypsy, but here I found her to be shouty and flat. Maybe “Strangers Like Me” just wasn’t a good fit for her voice. I enjoy watching how the rest of the line up responds to performances - and seeing Philippa and Steven go wide eyed as Helen J Shen navigated the end of “The Impossible Dream”. Call me easily annoyed but I found it hilarious that Nick Jonas called “Still Hurting” “I’m Still Hurting” when he’s in the show. I couldn’t tell if the opening performance of “Dreamgirls” was good or if they were off key a lot. I don’t have any musical training, but found this year’s entry to be pretty underwhelming. However, I got to watch it for free so can’t complain too much.

Esparza was in great voice for Defying Gravity, but the overwrought breathy phrasing was certainly a choice. Maybe Jamie Lloyd coached him.

Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard doing "Confrontation" from Les Mis was the clear highlight for me.
Yeah, except they both called out of their actual job the next day so...
The sound was terrible most of the time so it was pretty underwhelming. Plus Nick Jonas trying to bop when Aaron was singing to his beloved friend while tears streamed down Pippa and Steven's faces was.... awkward.
