I've just rewatched Lucas' performance at the Tonys and I was wondering how many young actors were nominated for a Tony

Let’s say 21 is the maximum age for being ”young”.

Evanna Lien - The Sound of Music - 8 years (featured musical, I don't know the others children's age)

Frankie Michaels - Mame - 11 years (featured musical, winner)

Daisy Eagan - The Secret Garden 11 years (featured musical, winner)

Jonathan Kaplan - Falsettos 11 years (featured musical)

Sydney Lucas - Fun Home 11 years (featured musical)

Anna Kendrick - High Society 12 years (featured musical)

Andrea McArdle - Annie 13 years (lead musical)

David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik, and Kiril Kulish - Billy Elliot: The Musical 14 and 15 years (lead actor musical, winner)

Lauri Peters - The Sound of Music 16 years (featured musical)

Lea Salonga - Miss Saigon 20 years (lead musical, winner)

Eva Noblezada - Miss Saigon 21 years (lead musical)

Anyone else? No one in plays?

Add the two of them.

Also, if we take the Billys out, are both Platt and Noblezada the youngest nominees ever the in lead musical races? Wow!

Andrea McArdle would have been 13 1/2 when she was nominated for best actress in a musical for ANNIE. I assume she was at the Tony's that night when she lost to her costar the brilliant Dorothy Louden.

While you're editing: Daisy's last name is spelled Eagan.

No, they rec'd a "special" Tony

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Add both of them.

The Miss Saigon power LOL

Also, really no young nominee at the play side? Interesting.

I believe Matthew Broderick was 21 when he won Best Featured Actor in a Play for Brighton Beach Memoirs in 1983. He is the youngest winner in the category.

"Eva Noblezada is nominated at age 21 this year. "

She has no chance at winning but I am really rooting for her because she went to the same (6-12 grade) school  (Northwest School Of The Arts) as my daughters in Charlotte NC.
