"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell

Krakowski screwed up her chances of doing CHARITY.... her own fault, you just don't back talk to Neil Simon, you just don't. Yes, she would have been great.
Not a Jasmine Guy fan. Love Pawk, but I don't think she's quite the Helene dancer, she's playing Matrons now (again, I do LOVE her...). Jackman has the right air, but he isn't convincingly swarthy and Italian.
Doogie, I thought about it yesterday, and you're right about Pawk. She's not right for the part. I dunno about Jackman; I still think he'd be great in that part. He's an underrated comedic talent, and I believe he could make it work. Here are my updated "Charity" choices.
"Sweet Charity" Charity Hope Valentine - JANE KRAKOWSKI Oscar Lindquist - MALCOLM GETS Nickie - JASMINE GUY Helene - EMILY SKINNER Vittorio Vidal - HUGH JACKMAN Big Daddy Brubeck - ISAAC HAYES Ursula - OLIVIA d'ABO Herman - BLAKE HAMMOND

Broadway86- I LOVE Emily Skinner... I think she is fantastic... but NOT NOT NOT here. She could never dance it.... ever. she is a bit too voluptuous. and a bit too warm... she (and Pawk) are also not black. EVERY single person in every high caliber production of Charity playing Helene has been African American.... in the original both revivals, and the covers for that role in both revivals, always black. Aside from that point, Skinner is not right for Nickie either. She cannot dance it, too voluptuous and too warm for both Nickie and Helene.
Lead roles: Lea Salonga Matthew Morrison Hugh Jackman Adam Pascal Idina Menzel ------------- Megan McGinnis Sutton Foster Kristen Chenoweth
And I would also want a part of the show: Michael Ball Julie Andrews [even now, just to talk or whatever.. she is the dame] Lisa Brescia Eric LaJuan Summers BSM Anthony Rapp Ben Wright Kelli O'Hara Taye Diggs Nobert Lee Burtz
Who knows what kind of musical it would be... but all of my favorites under one roof/musical... what a dream ~kangaroo

All I remember is that someone earlier put Elijah Wood for Boq in Wicked. HOW HILARIOUS!! I LOVE THAT CASTING CALL!!
But for me Anything with Hugh Jackman and Idina Menzel would be my dream musical! But I'va also gotta give a shout out to my girl Sutton who would be amazing in almost anything too!!
Put Hugh Jackman, Idina Menzel, Lea Salonga, Adam Pascal, Matthew Morrison, Josh Groban, Sutton Foster into one musical and I would almost be in heaven.
And I wouldn't mind seeing the LOTR cast of Hobbits and Elves with them... aww I would die!

hahaha i LOVE it i'm in this play right now and..yes yes you got the casting down perfectly
"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living
piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character
and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and
incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness.
Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish
it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a
rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the
real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get
along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small
unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings.
Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end.
But end it does. Another part of you vanishes.
That's show business."-Anonymous
Thanks, Dreams. I love that play as well. Whenever I'm bored on weekends, I'll take a play or musical and just cast it. The bad part is that I don't move on to the next character unless I'm ABSOLUTELY positive I've found the right actor.
I've done a lot of these lists on this thread, and I always kick myself because none of these people will ever play these roles.
PS - Add the following to my previous "Seussical" cast:
The Mayor of Whoville - EUGENE LEVY Mrs. Mayor - DEBRA JO RUPP
