I'm glad I'm not the only one who'd like to see Ms. Ebersole do "Mame". I just think she's perfect for that role!
fossemoves-
I LOVE your "Bye Bye Birdie" cast! Fantastic!
Also, great suggestion on Patrick Stewart in "My Fair Lady". I imagine I would love his Higgins.
My "My Fair Lady" revival cast would look like this:
Eliza: Laura Benanti
Higgins: Tim Curry
Dolittle: Tim Jerome (He was incredible in the recent tour!)
Pickering: John McMartin
Freddy: Gavin Creel
Mrs. Higgins: Carole Shelley

I totally agree. I am a bit mystified as to how he hasn't been in anything on B'way already.

Ebersole did Mame at Paper Mill and lacked the sparkle, charisma, and talent required of the role.
I'm still saying Lauren Graham as Mame.

Dreamgirls. I don't care who plays who as long as they're good.
Reefer Madness, with the film cast.
The Rocky Horror Show:
John Cameron Mitchell as Frank N Furter
Cheyenne Jackson as Rocky Horror
Kerry Butler as Janet
Neil Patrick Harris as Brad
Jen Cody as Columbia

I would like to see a revival of SARATOGA (1959), which like SHOWBOAT, was based on a novel by Edna Ferber, “Saratoga Trunk”, and was made into a memorable movie in 1945 with Ingrid Bergman & Gary Cooper. With a wonderfully melodic song score by the legendary Harold Arlen & Johnny Mercer and a spectacular 1880’s New Orleans setting and richly drawn characters, this show was ahead of its time and could be a potential LE MIZ or PHANTOM on Broadway today (except that it has better music than either, in my opinion).
Cast
Clio Dulaine: Kelli O’Hara
Clint Maroon: Hugh Jackman or Marc Kudisch
Belle Piquery: Christine Ebersole
Kakou : Audra McDonald
Also, I would love to see a revival of WILDCAT (1960)
Every student in a high school band the last 40 years knows and plays “Hey! Look Me Over” from this show and the rest of the score by Cy Coleman & Carolyn Leigh is equally infectious. For the revival I would cast:
Wildcat Jackson: Debra Messing
(A wonderful comic actress and a fine singer who would make the role originated by Lucille Ball her own.)
Joe Dynamite: James Anest
This role calls for a real legitimate singer and I would like to see it played by my current favorite, James Anest, who has yet to be seen and heard on Broadway, but is simply the best match for the role with his beautiful, powerful voice, athletic build and rugged good looks.

FUNNY GIRL
FOLLIES
Too early for another one but INTO THE WOODS with Chenoweth as the Baker's Wife, Raul Esparza as the Baker, and LuPone or Tonya Pinkins as the Witch.
Ebersole did MAME a long time ago before she was considered a Broadway "star" so maybe now she'd be able to pull it off.
I'd like to see Lauren Grahm do anything on stage. Can she sing?

I totally agree with Parislover87 about Evita
and fossemoves idea of Sara Ramirez in Bye Bye Birdie...but I sorta hate that show...
I'd love to see Cabaret with Alan Cumming (again...) and Ruthie Henshall or Side Show (don't have a cast for that one) or A Little Night Music

Any Sondheim with Raúl Esparza.

Dearest, how can this be so? You were dead, you know. - Candide
Oh my god, this show has everything! Half naked guys and girl on girl action! - [title of show]
(My avatar? Why, yes! That is Laura Benanti making out with a chick!)
