You might think I am going to say PETER PAN, but, for the first time ever, I am going to admit what my true all time favorite musical is. Drum roll, please...
Out of all the musicals I've seen...
...WICKED, PETER PAN, SEUSSICAL, ANNIE, BYE BYE BIRDIE, HELLO DOLLY, GUYS AND DOLLS, INTO THE WOODS, LION KING, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, AIDA, CHICAGO, SMOKEY JOES CAFE, STOMP, LES MISERABLES, CATS, MAMMA MIA, URINETOWN, THOROUGHLY MORDERN MILLIE, HAIRSPRAY, 42nd STREET, THE PRODUCERS, GYPSY, RAGTIME, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, GREASE, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, A CHORUS LINE, CINDERELLA, WEST SIDE STORY, SOUND OF MUSIC, OLIVER, MY FAIR LADY, THE MUSIC MAN, NEWSIES, MAME...
...My all-time favorite is...
...Yes, I just actually listed every single musical I'd ever seen in my life, on film and live...
...My favorite is...
URINETOWN: The Musical! I never laughed so hard in my life. I thought THE PRODUCERS was pretty damn funny, but URINETOWN was HILARIOUS!
PETER PAN may have a very special place in my heart, but URINETOWN is now, admittingly, my favorite musical. WICKED tied with PRODUCERS is second, PETER PAN is third.
So now you know.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Cap'n Hook - are you a performer? have you ever done Peter Pan? The character you named yourself after is one of my dream roles. I love that show so much, that I am putting Distant Melody into my cabaret act. What a beautiful piece of music - and such an uplifting (pardon the pun) show...You've got good taste!
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!"
Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!
Did you know that Distant Melody was not the original song to be in the production? They wrote up the song to replace the original, "When I Went Home" because the song was too sad. Can you imagine? TOO sad? If it is more sad than Distant Melody, then it is one depressing song! I have heard the melody, however I have never heard it with the lyrics.

Les Miserables, hands down. The story.. Love, anguish, fear, war. The twist. How Young Eponine gets all she wants when she is younger and then is thrown on the street, and vice versa for Cosette. The music.. HELLO! On My Own, Castle on a Cloud, Do you hear the people sing.. I just love it. Everything about it.
I'm Gail and Les Miserables and Footloose are among my favorite musicals. I have been in Les Miserables as both Eponine and Cosette, and in Footloose as Ariel and Rusty. I have also been in Fame! as Carmen Diaz. I was in Annie: the 20th aniversary at only 10 years old as Molly.
This. Is. So. Hard. But my loyalty will always lie with The Last Five Years. It brought me back from the living dead of actor land. I was almost completely discouraged about being an actor, and L5Y saved me from what I honestly believe would have been a life-ruining decision.
I cant believe that way way back many centuries ago when this was first posted I wrote down Thoroughly Modern Millie as my favorite musical. While it is one of my favorites, it is not THE favorite. I would have to say that I have grown over the past year with musical theatre and have become more exposed and I am going to have to go with Caroline, or Change as my favorite. It was the best show I ever saw on Broadway and the score is incredible.

Bah....Gah....Urgh... This causing me so much inner turmoil. Feels like a betrayal to all the other musicals in my life and my slight Sondheim obsession.....but I guess I just have to go with "RENT".
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "
