I fear Montego may take it. The Tonys often like giving it to the young new performer, such as MARISSA JANET WINOKUR or SUTTON FOSTER.
If that's the case, you could make the argument for Kate Baldwin...even though she's been working in New York for a long time, Finian's Rainbow was her first leading role on Broadway and most people who went to see it had no idea who she was before they saw the show (I certainly didn't know) and it could definitely be seen as a "breakout" role for her.
At this point, I'll be okay if it goes to anyone BUT Montego. I wasn't a huge fan of CZJ either but her performance was at least 10 times better than Montego's in the acting department. Girl can sing for sure, but she can't act her way out of a paper bag.

In the long run, I'm not so sure that being a Tony winner carries as much prestige as some people seem to think. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice thing to have on your resume, but in and of itself, it doesn't carry a guarantee for a career lined with gold and better parts down the road. IMO.

Are you saying that the Jennifer Holliday School for Divas is not adequately teaching the craft of acting?

As some of the OBC of A Chorus Line sadly found out.
All this hate for Montego Glover....this thread is racist.
She's out again.

Hopefully many Tony voters saw her in the winter.

Clearly she doesn't want the award or she'd show up for work.

In BrodyFosse's day the adage was "the show must go on!" Now these Hollywood types think they can call out for every little head cold. Cathy's ruined all her chances. She was a lock that's been unlocked. Broadway will never have her back now. NEVER.
i heard lansbury totally went tonya harding on her. i have a freind who's completely inside that show and knows all the scoop. evidently, they were fighting over who one of the theatre employees liked better.

yep, yep and i think a lot of people have seen the obejct of their affection. seems he or she's a real gadabout.
Sorry to hear that CZJ is ill. Hopefully, she'll be back into the show soon. So many people forget, or don't realize, that she started doing theatre in The West End.
She's a complete pro, and I'm sure she's sick. Why would anyone think she isn't?
maybe because i was doing whipits with her in the couples booth at playland last night? ok? didn't seem so sick at the gloryhole. that's all i'm saying.

There's already a Facebook campaign to have her permanently removed from Broadway.

You really were better suited for the role than me, anyway. Even if you were a second choice.
that's a lie! that's a goddamn lie! i was always the first choice! nobody even mentioned you. they don't even know your name. you're like seventh choice twice removed!!

I heard the exchange between CZJ and Lansbury.
CZJ: Ang, guess what? They've just asked me to do a revival of Mame. Would you like to play Mother Burnside?
Angela then took her prop wheelchair and took CZJ for a joyride stopping the wheelchair short at the orchestra pit and sending CZJ into the pit.
Does anyone think the fact that the show is closing on June 20 could hurt her chances for a Tony? As far as absences go, do you think that since she's a "short-timer" now, she may take more absences?

Now there's a Facebook campaign to send Cathy back to Wales.
I heard she called out sick because she's busy making room on her mantle for her Tony.
