another bad week for Chitty

the show grossed 66.6% this week ranking it in the lowest of musicals this week. Poor Chitty, i really dont think its going to last much longer.

Chicago had a good week 100.1%! and Sweet Chairty - 86% i believe.

Hear from a source with the production that a closing notice is coming....

re: another bad week for Chitty

I think Chitty will do great on the a national tour. What do you think?

re: another bad week for Chitty

It can't close before the 29th...I have tickets.

Really happy for Charity though.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

re: another bad week for Chitty

so Marc might not get to go back in the show at all? (since he's doing SWIWS) I guess it depends on when they close.

re: another bad week for Chitty

maybe they should change their ad campaign to CHITTY NOW... like RENT is doing...

re: another bad week for Chitty

I think it would be hard for Chitty to tour because of the extravagent sets. If it did tour, I picture A LOT of scaling back.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

re: another bad week for Chitty

I don't think tour. Not with Spamelot and others going on tour.

re: another bad week for Chitty

I dont think it could ever tour, The car would be friggen expensive to ship, none the less, if its having trouble flying at the theatre now, how is it gonna survive on the road

re: another bad week for Chitty

Does Cathy Rigby fly on the Peter Pan tour? And isn't there a tour over in England? I think it could def. work. I'm sure people would def. bring their kids to this. I know I would go see it and I'm not a kid.

re: another bad week for Chitty

I need to see this before it closes, I was planning on holding out for Marc's return.

Is Rent really using that ad campeign? Rent Now.?
Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05

re: another bad week for Chitty

I saw the new Rent poster art today. I don't know how to describe it accurately, though. They've made a cartoony drawing of what's supposed to be NYC, and a drawing of Cary in the usual pose is sort of floating around. The logo is like what Cats posted. It's very odd... I don't like it. It's in the 42nd Street subway station, for the locals.

That does not sound good Emcee, I'll try to go down tomorrow and check it out.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

re: another bad week for Chitty

I love the drawn ads of Av. Q. I think they're brilliant...I'm curious to see the rent art, but fear I won't like it.

Its alot easier to make someone fly on a harness, and transport it, rather than a multimillion dollar car that doesnt work.

re: another bad week for Chitty

It looks like they tried to emulate the iPod ad people, or something. It's just weird.

re: another bad week for Chitty

won't chitty at least last thru the holidays? with all the tourists, you'd think at least the ticket sales would be better at that time. And what happens to tickets that have already been sold....refunds?
#20

re: another bad week for Chitty

I believe it will run through the holidays and then close in Jan. Ticket sales for Nov. and Dec are pretty good. The aren't going to close it before then! I HIGHLY doubt that!
What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

re: another bad week for Chitty

It'll probably close in January unless it does incredibly well during the holidays which I doubt it will. I hope it does, I have not seen it yet but with Raul Esparza, Marc Kudisch, and Chip Zien a show can't be that bad. I just think that when a show relies so much in scenery and when a prop is the highlight of the curtain call, then there's something wrong.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

re: another bad week for Chitty

There is to be a UK tour starting in December. Don't forget that the Broadway car is much more advanced than what was at the London Palladium where they had to excavate the stage floor. It's perfectly feasable for something based on the rig at the Hilton to tour, though I don't know how expensive that would be. They might just wait until the UK tour finishes and then use that set.
#23

re: another bad week for Chitty

Judging from the reviews, the show isn't that bad, it's just WAY to expense to run with only a "so-so" audience attendance record.

re: another bad week for Chitty

Maybe they can run it in Vegas with all the other shows heading out there.

re: another bad week for Chitty

Chitty is going to tour in 2007. It can play any theatre that "The Phantom of the Opera" plays.
