Hi guys! I have an audition for 'Parade' by Jason Robert Brown in April and have been asked to prepare a song with a story or a narrative within it? I have some ideas but was wondering if anyone had any that they thought would be really good for this? I'd be very grateful for any suggestions! Thanks! X
Many Moons Ago, from Once Upon a Mattress, it's a guys song but girls can sing it too because the role can be played either way. I highly recommend Meadowlark from The Baker's Wife by Schwartz, it's beautiful.
"Have a child for warmth and a baker for bread and a prince for... whatever!"
If the accompanist can play JRB music well Stars and the Moon is a great song or you can do something from Last 5 Years like "Still Hurting" or "A Summer in Ohio" which is really fun
Are you a male or female? What is your voice part?
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
Stars and the Moon is stunning, also good 'cause its JRB. Takes a real actress and a real singer. Only problem is it might be overdone, as far as story showtunes go its fairly known.
