GREG JBARA A MILLION TIMES OVER!! He really is the most genuinely nice people that you'll ever meet in your life. Not just on Broadway but just in general.
Jeff Goldblum is also really nice and spole to me for about 20 minutes.
Hugh Jackman is also a total sweetheart and took a picture with me and hugged me.

almost all the actors i have met at stage doors have been incredibly nice. starting with the cast of rent, especially jeremy kushnier, jay wilkinson and kelly karbacz. dirty rotten scoundrels, especially norbert leo butz, sherie rene scott and of course greg jbara, who is always wonderful. all shook up and lennon, the entire cast were so sweet and gracious. the cast of altar boyz are phenomenal, andy karl, ryan duncan, tyler maynard, scott porter, david josefsberg, danny calvert and daniel and kevin and carlos. you couldn't meet a more wonderful group of guys. and jeff goldblum, gary beach, david hyde pierce, hank azaria and hunter foster were also very nice. i am sure i am forgetting some but as i said they are all really nice.

heres some of the exceptionally nice ones i've encountered:
from little shop hunter foster, kerry butler, and douglas sills. from producers roger bart and brad oscar. from wicked laura bell bundy. from beauty and the beast peter flynn, jeff brooks, aldrin gonzalez, and brek williams. from rent colin hanlon i saw him on the road not at the stage door though. from dirty rotten scoundrels norbert leo butz and john lithgow... i always hear how nice greg jbara is but he didn't come out the day i saw it.

I agree...Greg Jbara was quite nice when I saw "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" about two months ago.
David Gaschen, Jeff Keller, James Romick, Julie Hanson, Tim Martin Gleason, and Stephen Buntrock were all nice, too.
But I have to say that, while he's not always easy to catch, Hugh Panaro is without a doubt, the loveliest and most gracious person ever. I've been fortunate enough to meet him a few times now...he's signed things for me and was very kind (and funny) about signing things for friends who couldn't be there. And I had a chance to watch him signing things and interacting with other fans at the stage door recently...including some very shy children. It was a great sight...he was so sweet.

Erin Dilly, Raúl , and the entire chitty cast!! I mean, when there are so many little kids at the stage door- I think that puts them in a great mood anyway, but they are really nice people.
And there are lots of nice people, but those are the ones that come to mind...
oh- Jennifer Laura Thompson!! What a wonderful human being!

Laura Bell Bundy? She wasn't nice to you? Gee, I saw her at LITP, and went up and asked for her autograph. She talked to us for like 10 minutes and introduced us to her friend... we talked about Ohio and college... just random stuff... she was really sweet.
But, I'd more like to know who isn't nice at the stage door... not to be gossipy, but it just seems that everyone's had tons of great experiences...

Posted: 9/5/05 at 8:22pmOkay, I don't mean to be rude but I've got to ask. When I was a child my sister and I went through a phase where we wrote Broadway stars at the theaters they played in asking for autographed pictures and eagerly awaited replies. It was fun, however we were nine and eight years old at the time. Now my question...As an adult, what do you do with these autographs once you collect them? Do you frame them and put them on the wall? Do you close your eyes and run your finger up and down over their names? Do you put them in a drawer or do you hope to make money by putting them on eBay? I guess I'm just curious but everytime I see someone famous stopped by a fan I kind of shudder and consider it a cruel invasion of their privacy and definitely not something that comes with the territory. I wonder when this ritual actually began? I can see possibly paying someone for their autograph which is not all that uncommon. Once a year, mostly in the San Fernando Valley and sometimes in Hollywood, there's a gathering of celebrities in a hotel convention room. They sit in little cubicles and for generally five dollars each they will sign usually anything you furnish them with. Not that I'd pay for Loretta Switt's autograph but if it's worth it for her to spend the whole day waiting for the easy cash THEN I can see the need for this strange tradition. Otherwise the term "autograph seeker" is only one rung down from "the paperatzi" for me.

Posted: 9/5/05 at 8:23pmNorbert Leo Butz is so amazingly sweet, as well as Kelli O'Hara, Greg Jbara, Stephanie D'Abruzzo, and Barrett Foa, but really I have yet to meet someone that isn't very nice at the stage door. However, I always find that lesser known people are more willing to talk to you personally (like last time I was at Rent, Cary Shields talked with me for a while and then gave me a big hug after we posed for a picture (definatly a highlight of the night) and then I talked to Karmine Alers for about five minutes).

"everytime I see someone famous stopped by a fan I kind of shudder and consider it a cruel invasion of their privacy and definitely not something that comes with the territory."
I'm sure they appreciate being stopped by fans and told that someone actually does like their work. And while it's been debated, the inflated salary costs of big name stars is b/c they have to deal with a certain amount of publicity.
As for paparazzi vs. autograph seekers. One uses a zoom lens, the other a pen. One asks for permission, one doesn't.
Everyone has their collectibles, whether it's the playbills or baseball cards or autographs.
You gave the example yourself of some celebs who do shows where people pay for their autograph. It's a business for some whether you're collecting or selling.
