i'm not denying that they are good shows.
infact i could sing all four of them by memory.
but what i'm saying is, i wanted people to introduce new stuff that not everyone has heard. .
but i really did not mean to personally offend anyone?
haha okay I can def understand that :) I apologize if I seemed snippy (which I think I did), its just kinda become one of my pet peeves when people start not liking shows just because its not the "in" thing to do, and the way it was worded just made me think that might be what you were getting at :) but no, thats totally cool, I agree its nice to hear some other, less well known stuff!
Caroline or Change
Little Mermaid Broadway Demo - I just like it ok :)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch
"& you cant mention those shows, because anyone who knows anything about broadway has definitly heard all of them before."
"but what i'm saying is, i wanted people to introduce new stuff that not everyone has heard."
You didn't offend anyone, but those aren't the only four shows that "anyone who knows anything about Broadway" has heard before (there's tons of others like Cats and Beauty and the Beast). So asking to name a favorite CD and then specifically singling those 4 out is just unfair because those shows happen to be overrated. Personally I like listening to Wicked, Phantom, and Les Mis sometimes whether or not I enjoyed the show,
Cabaret - The New Broadway Cast Recording
It took me a while to get used to Alan Cumming and Natasha Richardson. With that said, this is a great recording because it's the revival and the tone is darker. It's a sort of musical you listen to and then think over for a bit. My only qualm is that it does not include the "kickline" music.
A few others I really like:
George M. Cohan - Tonight!
The Producers
West Side Story
Fiddler On The Roof (Original B'way cast)
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
The Sondheim scores all tell a pretty cut out story, except for perhaps Follies for obvious reasons.
Good ones to listen to without seeing it... at least my favorites
-The Last 5 Years
-A Chorus Line (OBCR ONLY!!!)
-Fiddler
-Gypsy (just because it needs to be on every single cast recording list... ever)

ICEcreamAssassin, where did you get the Little Mermaid demo?!!?! I want it!
Notre-Dame de Paris
Spelling Bee
Drowsy Chaperone
Ragtime
They just keep finding there way back into the CD Player. I love Noa's voice. I hope she finds her way to broadway. I have a couple of her albums and bought Notre-Dame de Paris without knowing she was in it.

"Follies" Complete Original Broadway Cast
"Company" OBC
I haven't seen the show yet, but I love The Jersey Boys OBC recording.

Once on This Island
Damn Yankees (revival)
How to Succeed (revival)
Seussical
The Life

Hair (original)
CDs I should listen to more of:
Big River
42nd Street (I don't have the revival recording)
Tommy
City of Angels
Merrily We Roll Along (York Theater Co.)
My Favorite Year
to name a few
Aida, Little Shop of Horrors, Hair (Actors Fund version) The Wild Party (off-broadway), Hairspray, The Last Five Years, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown (revival), Jersey Boys, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Light in the Piazza, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Music Man (tv movie version with Kristin Chenoweth), Avenue Q, and The Drowsy Chaperone. I also enjoy the "cd's-that-must-not-be-named".
