Please give me some advice on how to decide when to buy tickets for a preview. Before it opens or after?

thanks

worth it if you are getting a large discount, otherwise stick to after opening. which show?

Some people like to see an early preview and then go back after it's opened to see what changes have been made. It used to make more sense to see a preview when they were discounted but now that it's all the same price, if you're only going to see a show once and have the choice of seeing a preview or a performance after it's opened, I don't know why anyone would want to see a preview. Having said that if it's a show i want to see and my visit to that city only coincides with previews, I'll still go to see a preview but I'd rather see something after it opens whenever possible.

The big decision is are you absolutely going to see this no matter what, and you can get the seat you want right now at a discount, and it is a buzzy show that is selling well even having not opened yet? And if you're coming from out of town and don't have much flexibility and this is the show you absolutely must see, no matter what... If so, then yes, buy it.

Otherwise, wait to see if it's a train wreck, wait to see if it isn't selling well, wait to see if they held more tickets back for premium ticket holders than people who want to pay premium prices, wait to see if more scalpers bought tickets to mark up than people they can sell them to at inflated prices, etc., etc.

I am only in town for one day Nov 3  during King Kong Previews.  Seats are not discounted

Since this is your second thread about King Kong, it sounds like you REALLY want to see this! So, if this is your only opportunity, who cares about public opinion! I'd wait a little longer so that discounts have a chance to appear.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
