How can Brantly have left during intermission to write a review if the show doesn't open until tonight?
I was being snarky. I'm tired.

Thanks for awesome comments guys! You sure are some great theatregoers!
BroadwayWorld is quite full of judgmental people. Don't give me that crap where "the world is too"...But come on you guys...you're posting on a Broadway forum and you all try act like theatre diva's.
Please...
If you think the show was bad...ignore every damn thread about it and scroll down to post about what you think is great theatre.
We already have enough bashing and hatred...why keep it going...
Either way, I still kinda hope a cast album happens. Gone are the days where a flop still would most likely get a cast recording (Merrily We Roll anyone?), as I've heard some of the score from the demo recording, and it really isn't all that bad.
Speaking of which, with all the bashing going on now, I can't remember how it faired in the LaJolla Playhouse tryout run it did, but it seemed that people were excited about it then. What changed between then and now?
...I dunno, but I'm greatly looking forward to seeing this piece for myself come May 14. No matter *what* the critics ssay, I'm going to go in with an open mind and enjoy the heck out of this one! I love me some John Waters-esque humor, and when push comes to shove, the Marquis is servin' it up HOT!
I'm also hoping to see it in May - if it is still running then. I am holding out on getting a ticket as the seats coming up for the day I want are not very good. I am hoping that the premium ones will get released at cheaper pirces because there appears to be several of them still available. Fingers crossed.
I saw it last night and enjoyed it...quite a bit more than some of this season's other new musicals.
Tickets are available for tonight (Opening Night)!
amalou: "I really do not get the intense loathing of this show. I see why people have a few issues with it, but the bashing is just so relentless. Expressing an opinion is fine when you have a point, but just popping into every single Cry Baby thread to say "this show sucks I hate it hahah!" is just...lame."
oh really?
I do not get the minority group of you who defend this show and sometimes attack the posters who do NOT like it (that includes those of you defending Glory Holes).
I see why people have more than a "few" issues with it -- don't you?
if the bashing is relentless, there MUST be a reason. Perhaps the show sucks?
I know that "expressing an opinion is fine when you have a point"... I did go to College and High School, you know. and I do have a point! my point is that CRY-BABY is a poorly written and directed show. I don't have much respect for the show.
You, my dear, are the lame one.

winston89- The critics don't go on opening night anymore. They were there on Monday and Tuesday. I saw the show and I have to say, it wasn't as awful as I expected. Sure, it had a lot of problems, but I did enjoy the dancing, some of the cast, and some of the lyrics.

I'm not "attacking" anybody. Don't be a baby. All I'm saying is that if you did not like the show, it's totally fine to say why if you make valid points other than just repeating the same thing over and over and over again in each and every Cry Baby thread. If you hated it THAT much, why waste so much time talking about it on EVERY thread!?
I hated the Little Mermaid and I think I've mentioned that fact about twice. I don't go into every single Little Mermaid thread to let the whole world know I didn't like the show. Because that, my friend, would be LAME.

I saw Susan Haskins of Theatertalk in the audience yesterday and she seemed to be having a good time.
Saw Isherwood at last night's perf.
"Five years later if it's a hit, you cast people who lost on American Idol."
haha. True dat!
TooDarnHot, do a search. There are just as many comments on this board praising the show as condemning it. So it's not really overwhelmingly negative. I think what amalou was saying is that there are really only 7 or 8 of you (some of whom I am assuming are posting under multiple accounts) who are calling it the worst thing ever. It definitely feels like there is an agenda there for some of you. And the specific point that amalou was mentioning was how those same 8 people repeatedly copy/paste "I hate this show" into any thread that mentions cry-baby. Of course you should express your opinion, but what is the point of saying the same thing over and over in multiple threads?
And to curtaindownpuller and the other "insiders" who knew the show was going to close before opening night, I say "good call." I'll review the show in a couple of days, but I love the fact that they worked like crazy during the preview period and while the show isn't perfect, it's come a long way. All of us in this business should hope that every show does well. Here's to a great opening night.
The show may not be great or even good but lets wish them the best for tonight, a lot of people have put a lot of work in to it
what will be will be
"And to curtaindownpuller and the other "insiders" who knew the show was going to close before opening night, I say "good call."
No one said the show was going to close before opening. What was said was that a closing notice had been posted. ... Lets see what this coming week brings.
Actually, two things were said. People in one thread (not curtainpulldowner) stated a lie that a closing notice was posted 2 weeks ago to protect the producers should they decide to close the show tomorrow. One phone call to equity proved that wasn't true.
What curtaindownpuller said in a separate thread was that a bunch of people in the business were talking about how the show would be closing before opening night. When I called him on it, he later admitted that he heard it from one person, but that the one person was an insider with Cry-Baby.
I have no idea what is coming in the next few weeks, but I know that a lot of the haters on this board are already wrong about the fate of this show. I have a few friends dancing their butts off tonight and I wish them many months of employment.
Good luck to Alli!
Saw her go on for Kendra, she was AMAZING!-

It wasn't a lie. Flyingwalenda is the one who is a liar. As I said.. lets see the turn of events in the coming week.

Saw Cry-Baby last week -- and it was awful. It's real a problem when the chorus boys are the only highlight of your show. Lots of people left during intermission.
Dame, should I believe you or Equity who is required to nmake such notices public to protect it's actors?
