like after you see a broadway show you've been DYING to see and then you see it and its over? i felt this way after i saw Wicked in December since I had the tickets since September.
Or like i had BEGGED my parents to let me see Avenue Q and when they finally let me I went up to New York all by myself and stayed with my Uncle while I was up there and after I saw the show (which was last saturday) and it was amazing and i got to meet the cast and now its tuesday and its all over and evrything. am i the only one who feels this way after a show?
Well, whenever a show ends... it... *is* over.
Do you mean that it's anticlimatic, or that you're sad when it's over?
I do too. I had been wanting to see Wicked for months. When I finally saw it a year ago, it was like, "Wow! This was good! Now what?" That also happened with Little Women (I wanted to see it for Sutton Foster) and The Light in the Piazza. I just hope it doesn't happen with La Cage on 6/22! (I'll make sure to post a review)
I am usually more excited to see performers I like either on the stage - or back on the stage after a big flop (that even though I loved, put the cast through hell)....
A classic case of Broadway withdrawl.
I get it more as a performer than an audience member. I remember on my last night playing Motel in a big production of Fiddler all summer, I cried like hell. And for the next year I actually missed the character, like a part of me wasn't around.

I think it's natural... must be worse for the likes of Idina who are there from the first reading and ride the success... then it's gone!
yeah youre so excited and then its over. but then theres always the stage door to look forward to afterwards. living close to nyc does have its perks though.
yah I get that too Link. After the performance of guys and dolls I did i was like....jeez its over! and i cried sooo much.
But its a different feeling when you see a broadway show, cuz thats like the final step. You learn about the musical, buy the CD, start obsessing over it, get tickets, have wild day dreams about your favorite actors *cough* Tartaglia *cough* and then you see the musical...and its over.

That's EXACTLY how I felt after finally seeing The Producers. I think I completely spoiled it for myself by listening (a lot) to the OBCR before hand. It was okay but I was expecting WAY too much. And for the record, I saw it on tour with Brad Oscar and Andy Taylor (who looked insanly a lot like Conan O'Brian!).

Thats exactly how I feel every time I see Q, especially when he comes out at the last moment and sings "Everything in life is only for now." It always is a tear jerker for me. I walked out with this almost empty feeling...it's really weird but then I realize how lucky I am that I could get to go- again and again and again...
And also seeing Hairspray did the same thing. When I walked out I had an emmpty feeling. I loved all the singers and dancers and I felt I could play Penny Lou Pennington really well and I realized I never will make it to a broadway stage and I think thats what part of the empty feeling that makes me wanna see it again.
ooo yah that everything in life is only for now is really sad because he's the only one on the stage and its...over and wow im gonna get all teary if i dont stop.

I had been dying to see Wicked for months and then when I finally got to watch it I was in this all-time high but as soon as the show was over I was left feeling sort of empty. I think I'll be ok once I get to see the show again but then it's going to be that empty feeling all over again. I completely know what you're talking about.
yah theatres a very emotional thing, for both the audience and the actors.

Actually, most of the time I feel satisfied and kind of inspired to perform after seeing a show. Sometimes this makes me feel like what next... But then again... There are more shows out there that are great! Plus being able to look back at what a great show it was and seeing the performer you enjoy makes it even better!
Gonna just have to see it again... :)

Just think to yourself, that there is always another great show out there. If there was only one, Broadway would be a very boring place.
your right, a great show is just another excuse to go back to broadway and see it again
I usually have tickets for two plays in a day so after the first one it isn't so bad and then after the second one I'm too tired to really lament it...I feel bad for those who don't live in or near NY and don't have the opportunity to see a show again soon
