Sisters, the day has arrived!
The cast of the new musical XANADU — including Kerry Butler, Cheyenne Jackson, Tony Roberts, Mary Testa, Jackie Hoffman, Curtis Holbrook, Anika Larsen, Kenita Miller and Andre Ward — heads into the studio Oct. 29 to record the show's original cast recording.
Jeffrey Lesser is producing the CD, which is expected to arrive in stores Jan. 8, 2008, on the PS Classics label. The recording will be available the first week of December by visiting the PS Classics website, the Xanadu website or the Helen Hayes Theatre.

Um, yes you have. "Sisters" refers to a joke from the show... The fact that all of the muses are sisters (and referred to as such often), even if two are played by men...

Its times like this that I think of Jackie's half-assed frolic during "I'm Alive" and just have to smile! HUZZAH!
The wait for this cast recording is going to be excruciating
Interesting that they would record this without Chris Ashley there...
Do directors usually show up for cast recordings? I didn't think they did.
I will say I'm very excited to hear the cast post-recording. When I went to see Taboo the week before and week after they recorded the cast album, there was a markedly noticeable difference in how they delivered their songs. Post-recording, it was like a whole new show, and it was amazing to hear. Can't wait to hear the Xanadu cast post-recording.
So does anyone have any intel on how today's recording sessions went? I can't wait for the release of this recording. The wait will indeed be excruciating.
I am so excited about this. Now in the other post about Cheyenne's blog it said it will release before Christmas. Is that true?
I believe you can either pick up the OBCR at the Helen Hayes in early December or you can order it from PS Classics' web site. Wide release is scheduled for January 2008, if I recall correctly.
Yay! Totally gonna pre-order it! So excited!
Sisters, Sisters....Good news !!!

As announced this past week at all the theatre websites, we’ll be recording the original Broadway cast recording of XANADU on October 29th, and looking to have it in stores on January 8th. But because we recognize that it’s going to make a great holiday gift, we’re aiming to have it on sale exclusively here at PS Classics (and at the Helen Hayes Theatre) the first week of December. More info as it becomes available!

ABOUT CALLING SOMEONE OUT FOR LETTING THEIR CELL PHONE RING
"I was feeling very proud of myself to be included with these guys when the house manager came up to me and quietly said......."Just wanted you to know that that wasn't a cell phone, it was feedback from a ladys' hearing aide."
Oouucchh... if I did that, I don't think I'd ever stop torturing myself over it.

It's official -- Cheyenne's blog confirmed it. As Dr. Frank said, "It's alive! It's Alive!! It's ALIIIIIIIVVVVVVVEEEE!!!!" The Helen Hayes won't see the end of me until I get my copy!!!!! Praise and joy!!!! Best X-mas present of all!!!!!!
Huzzah and hollah my sisters!
I am going to try and convert my friend into a fANADU while in NY in about a week.
He wants to see the show!
=)
OBC, I shall get it when I take my annual trip to NY in December.
Huzzah and hollah.
Also, worship my avatar.
He's amazing. :sigh: I love him.
I'm so excited!!!!! I have no idea if they are pumping drugs into the air at the Helen Hayes Theatre, but I LOVED Xanadu more than anything I've seen in a loooonnngggg time. So much that I skipped a business meeting to see it a second time while I was briefly in NYC. That musical has made me happier than anything in a long time. I cant explain it!!!!
Also, it did my heart good to hear a guy who looked like a mean trucker (there with his girlfriend)tell me he was seeing the show for the 4th time. Also, it was awesome to see this gruff looking guy at the stage door hamming it up with a flamboyant little twink-both of them loving the cast. It is bringing people together. :)
I am telling you, this musical Xanadu has thew power to change the world. :) I cant wait for the cast recording.
There's Xanadu love
"ALL OVER THE WORLD"
