I just have thought of a question is Finding Neverland this years Wicked ? and might get a nomination for that reason? or is it far off in quality ?
what I mean by this Critics hate it but maybe the producers see it touring. And the audience loves it so maybe they will pick it .

If it were up to me, FN would share a best musical nomination with AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, FUN HOME, and SOMETHING ROTTEN (though I much preferred FN to SR).
I'm certain the Tonys will nominate THE VISIT instead of FN.

It's looking like it will get shut out of the nominations. I'm excepting maybe Leading Actor for Morrison or Direction for Paulus. It's most likely not Wicked, because despite mixed reviews, it still got 10 noms and won 3 three of them including Leading Actress for Menzel. Nevertheless, we'll see what happens on Tuesday. I predict <2 noms

I can't see it snagging too many nominations, but it might stay open for a nice amount of time because it seems to be an audience pleaser. But no, I would not compare it to Wicked

The Tonys may recognize Morrison and Grammer (maybe Kelly as well), but it may be a stretch to think that the musical itself when get nominated. I was sad to hear how negatively the press was reacting to the show because I personally think it's great, but, we may be surprised. I think the guarentee nominees will be The Visit, Something Rotten, Fun Home, and An American in Paris. Gigi, Finding Neverland, On The Town, and On The 20th Century... we'll just have to see.

I'd say chances are zip, zero, nada. This year's WICKED? Surely you jest. It has a chance of being this year's ADAM'S FAMILY. (If it's lucky)

Never say never! But, as has been mentioned, it does look like to me, unless there is a big surprise, the nominees will be An American in Paris, Fun Home, Something Rotten and The Visit.

Leanne Cope has usurped Laura Michelle Kelly as the 5th potential nominee for Leading Actress in a Musical (assuming the other 4 are Rivera, Chenoweth, O'Hara, and Malone).
Morrison has a shot at a leading actor nomination, if we assume the first four nominees to be Cerveris, Fairchild, D'Arcy James, and Yazbeck, then I would expect Rob McClure, Roger Rees, and Morrison to battle it out for the last spot. If The Visit receives a lot of recognition (and Neverland and Honeymoon are mostly shut out), then Rees could well ride that wave to a nomination.

I'm expecting acting and creative nominations. Definitely not Best Musical.

I'm with you, atuomala. I really enjoyed the show and don't quite understand the disdain that this musical is garnering. I thought it was really quite beautiful in many ways and I didn't find one weak performance in the lot. I've been to probably 100+ musicals in my lifetime, 30 or so of which have been on Broadway, and I didn't walk out of the Lunt-Fontanne feeling anything but positive over what I had just seen.
Is it the best I've ever seen? No. But I don't get the strong dislike for it.
I certainly understand that some musicals won't resonate with everyone. And that's cool. But in my experience of seeing a lot of live theater, I just didn't see this as being a bad musical at all.
That being said, if it is passed over for AiP, FH, SR and The Visit, I can't complain too much about that. They are all great choices, IMO, as well. It's been a good season.
But to see FN as somehow undeserving….again, I don't see it that way. I thought it was well done.

I didn't like "Finding Neverland" but it's better than "The Visit" in almost every way. I'm pretty sure some of the reviews were Weinstein hate but I am baffled by the "The Visit"love...

Could be. That in conjunction with the fact that some seem to be miffed that they cast one of the lead roles differently than they hoped. Thinking they should have gone with the young man who was in the Boston company.
Based on some of the responses on these boards it seems there were those who didn't want to like this before it even opened in previews…not because of the show itself, but because of some peripheral issues they had with it. But who knows?

Original poster: Go read WICKED'S reviews again (not that they always reflect awards) but they were no where near as bad as FINDING NEVERLAND. Brantley's review was mostly about how brilliant Cheno was (and that award went the other way, indeed) It's become a false legend that WICKED was completely slammed and went on to Green $ Glory.

^True. Same goes for Neverland. Seems to be selling tickets. The audience members (for the most part) seem to like it.
I think someone mentioned on here that Tony nods don't always coincide with the way the critics go though. So who knows?

I would expect Watanabe to get in before Rees or McClure. I think the final spot will be between him and Morrison, and honestly I think I'd give the edge to Watanabe at this point.
