because I'm bored.
thank you, I'll be here all week. Plese tip your waitresses.
I don't see the 'correlation', LML. As for my argument, I was actually talking about people's selfishness. It was a great thing that RENT opened in Broadway. But would you believe... some people did complain about it losing its integrity, about having the the undeserving 'mainstream masses' getting exposed to it, etc. The complaints right now about unleashing the RENT OBC to the "masses" as if some people own them is just as silly, and that's all I wanted to say. As to everything else regarding grittiness and age, as grownupgroupie mentioned, those have been discussed endlessly over the last few months. Everything has been said and argued about, so I'll not bump this thread anymore. Updated On: 1/23/05 at 07:39 PM
You are asking the wrong person for a tip...

why are you so angry about my points? I don't understand.
And for the love of pete, I HATE when people say "this topic was discussed before and blah blah blah"...like I care that other people talked about it before I came around. Pulease, I'm talking about it now because that's what you do on a message board...you talk.
get used to it...
ANd I do that all the time - granted it was easier before the u/n operation...
BSo, I know what you meant. "Maligning" was just maybe... too negative of a term.
Let Me Leave - first off, I adore that RENT commercial with Norbert. It has so much atmosphere about it that you can just feel... and I want the movie to feel like that - dark, gritty, etc. That isn't necessarily true about musicals and the goal of Broadway, though, especially with the emergence of stuff that is in essence better suited for smaller venues. There are certain shows that fare much better off-Broadway when they ever would on Broadway, and that's generally accepted. Broadway as the end-all, be-all goal is true for the very commercialized stuff; that's true. On the ages... Adam IS older than Rosario. By NINE years. She's 25. He turned 34 late last year. He looks younger than he is, but he certainly doesn't look 22 anymore.
ETA - she's making that point because it is valid - there are other threads about this. Personally, I don't really care because you weren't the one who started this thread, but the point is, that many of us have had these same arguments before, and a few clicks on the search engine can bring them up.
I was joking - because she thought you didn't like Adam....or w/e
BLEKH it's over.....

if the whole RENT movie was like that commercial, I would be oh so happy. I loved that thing! Heck, I'm not gonna lie, I cried once...especially when Norbert and Marci (was it?) were screaming at each other....such a good commercial.
Great, now all I can think about is Norbert. this is werid.
I was reffering to Cunningham and Cage..but more to Cage...Nick wasn't that big of a star then.
Daphne was in her thirties while on B'way in Rent, and despite the fact that Jesse gained a little weight since then, I think he still looks the same.
I just don't understand why it has to be changed from the 90's to the 80's at all.

I saw Daphne play Mimi in LA.
That's it, there was no point to this post.
Daphne did Mimi in LA?
what do you mean no point to the post?
Yes, after Daphne left B'way, she premiered Rent in LA

Yea, she joined the Angel Cast while it was in LA...and boy did she NOT look 19. I giggled when she said that line in Light My Candle. However, I was seeing Daphne so it was ALL GOOD.
And clearly when I said there was no point to that post, I was kidding. This is what we should all be talking about.
Well, you learn something new every day!
I think Fredi and Daphne should make cameos in the Rent movie...

That would be dope if they made cameos...(and yes I did just use the word "dope", don't judge)
Gilles Chiasson or whatever should make a cameo too...heck, I think us 3 should be in charge of all further casting.
That would be very cool... but... sadly probably won't happen.
And I love Giles Chiasson.
I wasn't going to bump this, but..
I was reffering to Cunningham and Cage..but more to Cage...Nick wasn't that big of a star then.
... I think the line refers to John Cage.

I'm in charge of casting?
Uh oh...
I think the whole OBC that hasn't been cast should make cameos...
Okay got the Cage thing...and this is why it would be better if it took place in the 90's - Cage died in 92.
So, who the hell is Cunningham?
Cunningham is a dancer/choreographer. Of course, that's putting it way too simply.

Which is why Cunningham & Cage are together...Ah, I get it now...Yay! Ignorance has swept away from me.
What next?

From now on I proclaim myself and Phantom Chicken the casting directors of the RENT movie...which is now going to have an appearance by Norbert Leo Butz as "The Evil Roger who goes back through time to kill 'Good Roger' as protrayed by Adam Pascal"
Also, Cary Shields and Orlando Bloom will have shirtless scenes for no apparent reason.
Enjoy.
