I've been a Broadway fan since the 90s.

The Ryan Rumbaugh having to go on Young Eponine was talked about on the various lists and site i visited whilst still at school.

Prefixing a disclaimer that i was a kid in the nineties but i did notice that in the fandom websites in the 1990s there was a lot of praise for little girls (e.g. Lacey Chabert) who went on as Gavroche as if it was some sort of blow for Girl Power (even though it literately was "be a boy"genderblind casting with little boys e.g, Gavroches going on as young E or C.

Buddy Smith and Ryan Rumbaugh are two Gavroches that had to go on as Young Eponine in national touring productions of Les Misérables. Since colorblind casting of child parts has happened for years on Broadway and national tours, genderblind casting of child parts might the next goal?

Although, I do think that having to go on as Young Eponine or Young Cossette would be embarrassing for a little (cis) boy.

Why would it be any worse than the other way around?? Because society still thinks that women are less?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

To be fair, some think it's "funny" to "joke" about "how there should be a Take Our Sons Home Day" (to go with Take Our Daughters to Work Day) which rather overlooks that when the Ms. Magazine people started TODTWD in the early 1990s, they *did* want to start a Take Our Sons Home Day. It never got over the ground - for when you feel like you have been mocked and ridiculed for a long time, you are not in the right frame of mind to believe your attacker's claim that they want to help you. You have to think it serves the Ms. Magazine people right that that happened.

1. Do not take me for a fool.

2. Not a troll but you seem to be from the tofu belt.

2. know more about suffering than you. You try living with a left hemiparesis and repaired esophageal atresia for your life.

3. i can deal with the unethical nature of you, dear person, labelling everything you don't like as trolling but i cannot stand the hypocrisy.

I don't care if people on the extreme left call people on the right fascists, or anything they like. What I object to, and what my post is specifically about, is the campaign to deny free speech to anyone the extreme left disapproves of.

The "No Platform" movement (using the slogan "no platform for fascists", or racists, or Zionists, or imperialists, or anyone else far left groups oppose), is a direct and overt attack on free speech, and also on free inquiry and free academic debate.

The movement has exactly the same objectives, and uses exactly the same tactics, as the National Socialist German Students' League (NSDStB) of the 1930s: to establish an ideological hegemony over both people's lives, student life, and university teaching. In Germany the targets were socialists, liberals and Jews. Now the targets are all non-leftists (and even some non-conforming leftists) and (again) Jews, albeit under the euphemism of "Zionists."
