has anybody heard rumors that jayne houdyshell will be joining the cast of follies?

i have heard as much, but have not confirmed them -- and thought i might be overlooking a thread on here...

ATC was discussing this last week.

Presumably, she'd play Hattie.

Well she is the most Shutta-esque, if she can sell the song, she'd be great.

This is just such a drastic change for the production, going from the sexy Lavin to the butch Houdyshell. And yes, I know Hattie should be a tough gal. I just can't picture Houdyshell as a former Follies girl. Ballard and Mimi Hines had the tough persona, but I just find them more believable.

This was a perfect opportunity to get a name, but I guess they all turned it down.

Sadly something that could never happen now, but I would have loved to have heard Alice Playten belting out "Broadway Baby."

Well, look on the bright side. Maybe without a name, they can bring back the montage ending instead of the "Broadway Baby" solo turn for Lavin. (That's also assuming they will find a new and competent Solange I guess...)

Please, please, please let it be Karen Morrow as Hattie on Broadway. The woman deserves a hit in New York! And what about Elizabeth Seal as Solange? Does anyone know if Elizabeth is still performing?

Karen Morrow would be terrific, but I still think Patty Duke would be ideal.

She's no Linda Lavin but she's a capable actress! I'd have no objection to her in Follies.

She was a force to be reckoned with in The New Century and though I haven't seen her in Wicked, I think she'd be quite stirring in the role.

Ah, Paris.... Seal would be a great choice, as would Jane Lapotaire. But my first choice would be Sonia Braga (not that she's likely to take a role like Solange). BTW, does anyone know if Leveaux is still doing Zorba with Banderas? If so, Braga would be the ideal Mme. Hortense.
