i would have loved for kelli and matt... as well as Jack Obrien and DRS for best musical. DRS was so much better than SPAMALOT. I wanted Spam to get the shaft... o well. You cant fight the power of a buck in the hands of investors...
I agree, juice. I laughed so much harder at DRS (and Spelling Bee, of course) than I did at Spamalot. I hardly laughed at Spamalot, actually.

DRS was not smart or witty like John Lithgow and Sherie claimed. It's worthless dribble IMO.
and spamalot is gods gift to musical comedy? i think not. DRS was a much better BROADWAY show. Im not sure what spamalot is.... I think the closest word is...TIRED.
i also think kelli's performance in "piazza" was way more powerful than victoria's.
I was so thoroughly upset when they announced Sara as the winner. Yes, I think she does a terrific job in SPAMALOT, but the show just doesn't do it for me. Who knew that a musical based on MONTY PYTHON would win a Tony for best musical. What is the musical theatre world coming to? Kelli O'Hara is stunning in the role of Clara, absolutely stunning. I was rooting for her 100% and was SURE she would win, so my heart and mouth dropped when they announced Sara, no offense to her. But you guys are right, the Lady role just isn't Tony worthy, it's fluff and is just an easy laugh for the show. But there's no denying Sara Ramirez is incredibly talented, but in this show, in this show...just didn't deserve the Tony in my opinion. In my opinion Kelli was robbed, ROBBED I tell ya!
I was definitely rooting for Kelli. I saw both performances and Kelli definitely won me over, even though I liked Spamalot better. It was my biggest dissappointment of the night (I was there) not seeing Kelli win. She was on stage just as much as Victoria Clark, and gave an equal performance (or even better) in my opinion. Congrats to Sara, but I really did think that Kelli did a fantastic job and deserved it.

i agree Ken.
Yes,I wanted Kelli to win. I first met her in Wichita when she did SHOW BOAT. Saw her in SSOS and DRACULA. She is one of the sweetest
women in the business. Love her on the PIAZZA recording.
I am a fan big time. Thanks to my Wichita MTW friend who introduced me to this incredibly talented lady. Adore her? YES!
I think I discovered two of my top actresses in Dracula - plus Tom Hewitt.....

I saw Spam first and I liked it alot and loved Sara. I was so impressed by her voice and her comedic abbilities, but then I saw Piazza and everything about it blew me away including Kelli and Matt's spectacular performances. I'm not going to say that Kelli is better than Sara cuz that's not nice and not true but Kelli's performance truly deserved this award. How often does a role like this come along? Kelli should've won for this role!
I agree, 100%. However, what's done is done. While it's great that so many people wanted Kelli to win, there's nothing we can do about it. However, the silver lining is that after so many shows that didn't succeed, Kelli not only landed a successful show, but one that earned her a Tony nod. She will be back, and one of these days she will win.
