re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

I too am trying to find out if this is true. I read it on another chat board..not sure if that's where you read it too. I just spoke with Jennifer last Saturday night and she didn't give any indication that she was leaving anytime soon. She was there Tuesday night and then has been out the rest of the week. She hardly ever misses a show though and now she's missed 4 so far this week. Anyone have information???

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

It's a shame this show had so much publicity about actors missing performances from the very beginning. I heard Donna Murphy had a cold this week. Maybe Donna and Jennifer took time off because of the RNC or maybe they are both sick? But how long does a cold keep an actor from performing? Opera singers are trained to deal with this problem... Anyway, I hope the rumors about Jennifer's abrupt departure are not true.

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

Maybe she and Donna got into a HUGE fight and Donna hit Jennifer in the face and now Jennifer is in a neck brace and she can't perform which is OK cause they really hated each other and it was really hard to play sisters that liked each other, so she quit.

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

She did leave suddenly. Broadway.com reported she left the show because of a medical condition. That is very sad. She was very good in the show.

I thought she left already to start filming her TV show? Anyway, the link is on the right hand side of the homepage of BROADWAY.COM.

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

I heard this news earlier today...it's a foot condition....she was planning on leaving next week but on doctor advice has decided to leave early. Very sad..I liked her portrayal of Eileen a lot and she is a sweetie!

I'm sad about it...I thought she was marvelous. I hope her foot heals well, if that is indeed the problem. Let's get her back onstage!

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

Hmmmmmmmmm...big surprise.

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

And despite the kinda nasty jokes (hope you ARE trying to be funny and don't actually believe such crap) about fights between her and Donna posted above, the EXACT OPPOSITE is the truth. Jennifer is totally supportive of her co-star. In fact, Donna is going, Jennifer is gone early. Hmm....

Love and best wishes to both of these fabulous dames!

Well, I was right about people getting sick, kind of (foot condition?), but it is sad she lef early. Wonder who the replacement will be. But she was already planning on leaving next week anyways...???

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

it says on b'way.com that her 2 understudies are gonna alternate in the part...why not just let one do it until the new lead comes in?

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

Maybe one of them will replace Westfeldt - they said they will announce it next week. And if they did hire an understudy to become a principal, wouldn't they have to audition anyway to get another understudy? So either way, they'll hold auditions and see what goes on from there.

re: jennifer westfeldt out of wonderful town

OMIGOD how lucky am I that I flew into town Tuesday morning to see WT that night and come to find out it was her last. Funny thing is I was bemonaing the fact that Donna Murphy was absent and "who the heck is Linda Mugleston" was playing the lead and "I don't know this Jennifer so-and-so but she's not the one I came to see." Well, Jennifer WESTFELDT is a huge star-in-the-making and she BLEW me away -- I am in L-O-V-E (and I'm happily and faithfully ten years married!!!). She didn't show any signs of injury or illness, so something must've happened pretty quickly. And can I just say that Linda Mugleston was OUTSTANDING -- far better than Donna Murphy I assure you. I wish Linda M was on the CD and not Donna M. Perfect blend of Ethel Merman and (I'm serious) Alice from the Brady Bunch. Funny, muggy, schticky, the whole bit. Jennifer -- please come back!

this is so sad! I wish I had had the guts to stop her and get her autograph and tell her how good she was when I saw the show in june.

Weeblo -
Have you even SEEN Donna Murphy in that part? I have, four times, and she is incredible. And even if you have, and think Linda is better, there are ways to say things - do you honestly wish illness on people?
