joshy - Did you happen to see the second act? That's not 13 year-old mentality. The entire concept of "Jerry Springer: The Opera" is actually quite artistically sound. It is much more than vulgarity as humor if you pay attention.
I have the DVD and the score is brilliant. "I Just Want to Dance" is one of the most gorgeous ballads written for musical theatre is years.
Yes, I did see the second act. I found it even more painful than the first, which was at least entertaining. I thought the concept was promising but it failed spectacularly in the execution, for me.
wow joshy
i guessing you diddnt get the point at all(shocker)
This was a perfect satire on the tv culture (especially american)and on the people who inhabit shows like jerry as well as the morality of theese shows(do we blame the shows or the people who go on them,are they an open forum for real issues or pure entertainment etc)
I know some of you americans really like the show and got it which is great but we did all say in the UK that if this played in new york many americans would miss the point and not look beneath the surface of the swearing etc
"In May 2004, the show's producers announced that it would be moving to Broadway, New York City, in October 2005, following a short run in San Francisco in the Spring[5]. The move was cancelled, allegedly following the failure to attract the necessary backing.
Prior to the cancellation, Harvey Keitel and Kevin Kline were approached to play the lead role, and David Bedella (Warm-up Man/Satan) was under contract to resume his role on Broadway.
There are still rumours that the show will be playing Broadway after the 2006 UK Tour"
`````So who knows if it's coming to Broadway, but I will form my opinion of it after having seen it.
"If you think people singing 'chick with a dick' is the height of wittiness, then you should love it."
"People who thought it was daring should spend an hour with some 13 year olds..."
"west end artist1, I got the point of what the piece was intending. It just didn't work for me at all. No need to be patronising."
