So it wasn't just me then that thought Jessica Boever's portrayal was a bit....ummm, not good? My favorite Eponine's have been Gemma Wardle (London'97), Ma-anne Dionisio and Natalia Sosa (Mexico). I also saw Diana Kaarina several times and thought her voice was FANTASTIC, but her portrayal was too sweet and girly for my liking...her Eponine irritated me a lil bit.

" Is the girl who plays Eponine a whiny Eponine? Because those are the kinds that really bother me... like the OBC version of Les Miserables, I can't listen to that."

In the past nine years, I've never seen an Eponine who employs the whiny histrionics of Frances Ruffelle. No need to worry. re: les miz - broadway vs. tour

I saw the tour last year and was blown away. Altough I was a little upset I didn't get to see Tonya Dixon, she's truly amazing. The understudy was Linda Pierson Huff, and I wasn't the east bit impressed. She didn't really growl I dreamed a Dream like Tonya does, her voice was pretty and it left much to be desired. But Randal Keith made up for it, and so did the AMAZING Ma-anne Dionisio, she blew all the other female singers out of the water. You can judge for yourself by clicking on the link. She's the best though!

Maybe I saw Ma-Anne on a bad day but I really thought she was bland, boring, and needed to either be kicked in the butt or replaced by someone who actually was playing the part and not just moping around.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

I didn't find the Eponine's acting to be very whiny, but I did find her voice at times to be quite thin and immature sounding. I don't know if that's what you mean. (On My Own had me in tears, for like, the rest of the act though, I'm embarrassed to say.)
