What are we voting?
Which show sucks more? Which one is better?
Which one has most of the board actually seen by now?
I can't believe we're having this debate.
(And the answer is Rent.)

See...I don't know who's taking this post seriously.
You can't vote between a well established show and one that has only THREE preview songs out, and ain't even started yet! You can't vote for a show that more than half of the f*cking board hasn't seen yet. Including most of the people who have voted.
That said, if you are from Denver, or have seen THAT production, I'm happy to hear what you have to say.
I saw them both (Brooklyn in Denver). I like them both. But I think Rent edges out Brooklyn for me. But I will see Brooklyn in NYC.

Yeah, since I'm almost positive that only one person in this thread actually SAW Brooklyn.
(nice to hear what you do have to say, uncageg)

If people have not seen Brooklyn how the heck do they know?
"overdone and outdated"
I have yet to hear your reason why it is "outdated." You just keep saying it over and over. Is there a reason?

The same people that wrote Taboo wrote Brooklyn

Rachel, they don't know. They're assuming.
A small tiny minority of the board has seen Brooklyn.
well yes its outdated cause so many other musicals have been better that came after RENT such as
Avenue Q
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Aida
Hairspray
BARE
and now .............BROOKLYN
(not in order of when it came out)
thats not true at all they are not the same writers taboo and brooklyn sorry looking at my taboo recording doesent have the same name..................

And why are these automatically better because they're newer? All of those shows are unique and not Rent.

w.e u people wanna think im just saying everyweek check the broadway grosses either on playbill and broadway.com and RENT will be in the Underdog section yes its a good show and all but with the original cast not the new one and broadway doesent have the original if the original cast were to come back rent would make millions but the original is not there so its only good with them and i bet they will tell you the same thing..................................ITS OLD GET OVER IT you cant stick with one show see what else is out there even the classics ANYTHING GOES stuff like that get away from rent open up

um why vote between these 2 shows? Why do people automatically "think" they are the same show? They are totally different... RENT is a rock opera about artists who are struggling in modern day society with their sexuality, illnesses and paying the bills. Brooklyn is about a guy named Taylor Collins (OMG! COLLINS!! AHH SAME CHARACTER NAME!! ALERT THE MEDIA!!) who goes to paris in 1969 and meets a beautiful parisian waitress whom wishes to become a dancer..they fall in love... she gets pregnant and he never knows because he is called off to fight... she gives birth to a baby girl and names her Brooklyn after his home town...he gets castrated in war and cant give her a family so he doesnt return to paris because he is so hurt by the fact he made a promise that he cant keep..Faith (the waitress) becomes a dancer and when brooklyn is 5 on christmas night she is so upset by not having taylor around that she takes her own life. Brooklyn gets sent to a place (i think it's called Sister Of Charity) and she grows up there to become a famous singer finishing the unfinished lullaby sung to her by her mother (which she learned from taylor)..brooklyn then comes to NY to find her father and in that time meets the diva Paradise who is like our modern day Missy Elliot..they have a sing off at MSG and in that time brooklyn intends to find her dad..she finds her dad and wishes to sing the unfinished lullaby on stage but Paradise tells him not to come because hes a homeless loser ...eventually, Brooklyn reunites with dad..it's a wonderful story and NOTHING LIKE RENT...
