I love Besty's cast, except I would use Toni Collette as the Baker's Wife instead of Cate Blanchett (though VonTussle's girl idea of Laura Linney is superb as well).

i like what you guys are saying BUT i agree with sporkgoddess, does scarlett have the voice for rapunzel?! her "ahh ahh ahhh" is pretty crucial to the show. also i would not have Anne Hathaway as Cinderella, i think Cinderella should be played by someone who is more of an ingenue, Anne can be kind of sarcastic and annoying (to me)

seriously, this is a joke right?

Jason Bateman as the Mysterious OLD Man?
Tony Hale and Liza?
What's with the Arrested Development thing? I like the show but what does it have to do with an ITW movie?
Why didn't you cast Ron Howard as the Narrator for that matter?

And Merly Streep is sposed to take on three roles of somewhat miniscule size?

And as for Babs and Oprah...well I just don't even know what to say there.

I always thought Laura Linney would make a great Bakers' Wife, but I have no idea if she is vocally up to the role. Catherine Zeta-Jones would make a great witch, but I disagree with Anne Hathaway as Cinderella.

Meryl Streep is almost 60. At the beginning of the show the Baker and his wife are wondering why they can't have kids...well, at 60, Meryl needs no curse from the Witch to keep her from getting pregnant.

The Witch- the more and more I think about it, the more Catherine

Zeta Jones sounds ideal

The Baker- Raul Esparza

Baker's Wife- wither Kate Winslet or Toni Collette

Cinderella- I'm liking the Anne Hathaway idea. Not sure if her voice is as strog as it should be, but she could work it.

Cinderella's Prince/Wolf- James Marsden

Cinderella's Stepmother- Joan Allen (i have no idea if she can sing or not) or Miranda Richardson

Lucinda and Florinda- Lacey Chabert, and Kristen Bell OR Kristen Bell and Brittany Snow

Jack- If Freddie Highmore could sing, that would be amazing. If not...then I really don't know

Jack's Mother- Imelda Staunton

Rapunzel- Amy Adams

Rapunzel's Prince- Ewan Mcgregor

Cinderella's Mother- Angela Lansbury...she may be too old though...i just think it'd be precious

Little Red Riding Hood- um...some young new comer

Narrator/Mysterious Man- VonTusselGirl took the words right outta my mouth!


Director?? Maybe, possibly Sam Mendes? (will i get killed for saying that...? i thnk he'd be great)

what's with all of the "Into The Woods" movie musical talk recently? I highly highly doubt it will ever happen. ever.

They could easily make Meryl look at least 40, but I can understand why Meryl wouldn't be suitable for the Baker's Wife. I guess you are right Ray-andallthatjazz. Let me rephrase... Meryl Streep circa 1985 would be ideal for the Baker's Wife.


Whoever mentioned Laura Linney for the Baker's Wife... what a great idea!

I think the suggestion of Cher as the Witch is hilarious!

no to meryl streep as bakers wife

as much as i kind of want this to happen, i feel like i would be extremely disappointed in the outcome. how many of our favorite musicals have been turned into movies and ruined? too many

Zoox, I love Meryl, and she would have made a wonderful Baker's Wife back in the days. She is perfect for the Witch though. She would be scary, campy, elegant, and heart-breaking (during "Stay With Me" and "Lament").

I think with the right director this movie could be really good, but there are so many ways they could take the style of the overall film. It could be brilliant or fall completely on its face depending on the style they choose.

But in all honesty I don't see this happening... especially after the grosses Sweeney Todd got.
