As the old saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right. If you buy the movie prior to its intended release and you know it (as everyone on this thread does) you're clearly in the wrong. It may not add up to much, but it speaks volumes about character, as does all the ganging up on Best12bars.

Why does it matter...and further, why is it such a big deal to you personally?

The sales are counted, the just won't scan them until after the release date.

Can you really say that if you walked by it in the store and it was out on the shelf that you would not buy it?

Definitely. I paid to see it once. I wouldn't ever do that to myself again.

holy crap, best12bars, are you for real? you care THAT MUCH? it really affects your life THAT MUCH if a store sells the tape 4 or 5 days early? Gimme a break! This is so lame and riciculous. There are far more important things to worry about. Sony is still making the same mount of $$! Great, now I don't know WHERE I can buy a copy ,thanks a lot.

(I'll be perfectly neutral on this situation, though there is a Mom-and-Pop music/DVD shop on my college campus that started selling the DVD today. I haven't bought a copy, but I'll be honest when I say that a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm broke. And that I'm going to New York tomorrow, so I have to save whatever I can.)

Thanks, Color and Light, but I was just making a point. Rules are rules and if people are going to flout them, that's fine, but instead of being adult about it, the knee jerk response has been to continually slag best12bars, who just explaining the way things are.

I'd love to know where this sense of entitlement on everyone's part comes from.

This isn't bending a rule, it's breaking a rule. And as you don't know me from Adam, you really don't know what I have or haven't done in my life.

This thread is full of who have resorted to name calling and snotty comments to someone who stated they were in the wrong. Some have stated that because they don't like Sony's business practices that makes them above the rules. Some have stated that because they aren't the ones selling the dvd that it's not their problem if they just buy it. Some, instead of responding to what I've been talking about in this thread have chosen to make assumptions about how I live my life. That's self-righteous behavior.

Why can't you people just wait until Tuesday?

Again, I just want to know where all this warped entitlement comes from.

I've worked in a retail video store before and we were very careful to honor the "street date" of all the titles we received. Those selling "Rent" early are well aware that what they are doing is wrong! As much as I want my copy of "Rent," I'm more than willing to wait until the "official" release date on Tuesday.
