Posted: 11/21/10 at 6:18pmIf you've already seen Next to Normal with both casts I highly recommend visiting A Little Night Music. I've seen Next to Normal twice with Ripley, and once with Mazzie and is my personal favorite show. I've seen Night Music twice, both with Peters, and while the two shows are pretty much incomparable, to miss seeing Bernadette Peters in A Little Music would be a huge mistake for anyone who had the opportunity.

I'm with the belief that, as much as I adore n2n myself, if you have not had a chance yet to see ALNM with Bernadette, you need to go and see that one.

Yes, I'd suggest ALNM too if you haven't seen it. I went back to see it again yesterday for Stritch and Peters and SO glad I did.
Stritch wrings laughs out of every single line. And really, how many more chances will you have to see this Broadway legend?
Peters' version of "Clowns" is a heart breaker (although the strange intonations she gives with some line readings is...puzzling. Sounds like a record with someone moving the speed up and down.)
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 11/21/10 at 6:49pmI saw them both last weekend and they were both marvelous. I'd never seen N2N before and was brought to tears at least twice during the show. Mazzie was mindblowing. But since you haven't seen ALNM with Peters and Stritch, you MUST see this. It was perhaps the highlight of my theater going life so far. The talent of the entire cast is so high that I was transported into their world for 2 1/2 hours, smiling and laughing the entire time. It is extraordinary.

Another vote for A Little Night Music. Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch are giving performances not to be missed!
Even if you hadn't seen Next to Normal already, I'd still say Night Music because you'd still have a chance of seeing N2N on tour.

Yeah, I don't get why she does that. It bothers me a bit. I hope she doesn't do that in Follies.
