I want to see both Assassins and The Normal Heart, but since they're both limited engagements, I think I only have the time to see one of them.
So let's hear it... help me pick!

Posted: 4/12/04 at 5:17pmI'll use my amazing soothsaying abilities to predict that a majority of the people will say go see Assassins.

Posted: 4/12/04 at 5:29pmASSASSINS! Neil Patrick Harris is great. Love him on the SWEENEY TODD DVD.

NORMAL HEART
I am seeing them both, but I know if I HAD to pick, I would go for NORMAL HEART

Posted: 4/12/04 at 5:39pmwell, i'm hoping that Assassins extends, or that some random day frees up in my schedule. There's a small chance I can go to both, but it's looking like I have to choose.

Posted: 4/12/04 at 5:48pmI think ASSASSINS has to get out of the theater at a set time because of renovations, so I wonder if there will be a second extension?

Posted: 4/12/04 at 5:51pmyou are more likely to see ASSASSINS staged elsewhere than NORMAL HEART. That being said, both casts for NYC are good draws. Try thinking of it another way: which is more likely to be filmed for posterity? since there are various screen versions of NORMAL HEART already, i think, then seeing that cast live might make more sense. i'm betting this cast of ASSASSINS gets a video of the production made.

There are various screen versions of NORMAL HEART? Where? Larry has been fighting for 20 years -- with Barbra Streisand who owns the rights and others -- to get ONE version made and it still hasn't happenned....
I do agree, this production at the Public will probably be one of the last major professional productions we'll see of this play in NY for quite some time.....

Posted: 4/12/04 at 10:44pmI'd also have a tough time deciding, but as has been posted, Normal Heart will probably not be remounted very soon, if ever, and Assassins probably will. Also, seeing Raul perform is a treat.

Posted: 4/14/04 at 12:41amNormal Heart. It'll close sooner, and seeing Raul in that sort of role is quite the experience. Assassins will probably extend, esp. if it does well at the Tonys.
