I agree...I couldn't remember the exact wording...
I read it a couple of times, and he/she definitely implied that Wasserstein was dead.
I believe the thread title was "Rest in Peace, Wendy Wasserstein." More than impiied.
It said something about our prayers being with "the little one she left behind."

Whatever it was, it was pretty sick. It's hard to believe that they had the nerve to then post in this thread.
Praying for support and a loving embrace for her from friends and family.
I for one would be interested in knowing why isntitromantic posted that thread earlier today in the first place. I can't imagine that anyone would actually intentionally post something so awful as a prank or joke. It would make me feel better about them if I knew where they heard this information or if they were just guilty of not reading all the posts on the subject and assumed Mrs. Wasserstein had passed on due to her dire situation (thus posting their condolences). I am hoping for ignorance instead of malice...
Well, hopefully isntitromantic has learned his/her lesson. I vote to disregard it entirely until an official announcement is made.
i agree Distinctive Baritone!

To Wendy Wasserstein, my thoughts again for her restoration to health.
As for the "new" poster "isntitromantic", the selection of that screen name below a depiction of the passion of Christ suffering the crucifixion is offensive to my religion and indicates a complete lack of consideration and respect for other people, and toward God.
mea culpa!
My information was from nurse friend at MSK Cancer Center who said Wendy has passed. She called me this morning to say it was another Wasserstein who had been admitted. I am just horrified. I had no idea this had gotten so out of hand. All I really wanted were prayers for this most special of women.
Do forgive me.

Here's some information on me for ye who are so quick to judge:
a. I am a Jesuit
b. Isn't It Romantic is a play by Wendy Wasserstein. I saw it the week before I took my final vows --- it was a wonderful evening at the Lucille Lortel: I laughed, was moved, was uplifted. I knew then what I was sacrificing when taking my vows -- that there would be some experiences that I would give up for Christ. Wendy taught be a great lesson that evening for for that I will always keep her in my prayers and in my heart. All the things that reflect on the humanity that is mankind. Wendy understood. And I, at 26, became a Jesuit. I took the name last evening when I mistakenly thought she had passed as a tribute to her insight, her wit and, yes, her humanity.
Christ is important in my life. I remain celibate because of him.
Wendy is important in my life. She gave me a great gift. I pray for her and her child.
I also pray for you who are so quick to judge.

Av's only get removed when a certain someone finds them offensive.
Too bad Jesus was so buff - otherwise it'd be gone, huh?
I must say, I don't care what religion you are. I'm still offended by your avitar.

Why are you offended?! People are offended by anything nowdays.
I agree with Jazzysuite82. And why are you offended - b/c it symbolizes Christianity?
How sad, the way some people think nowadays....
Take the avatar discussion elsewhere, please.
To disclose the status of someone's health without their consent is a violation of privacy and patient confidentiality, and I would think actionable in a court of law.
I would suggest your friend the nurse think twice about conveying patient information to third parties who have no right to the info (even if they are fans or admirers of the person) and that you also consider the privacy and concerns of the person's family before posting such info on a public website.
Once it hits the newswires, well then it is fair game. Until then, I would encourage eveyone to think twice about posting personal information about someone else, especially such devastating info, on a public board.
I have made the mistake of hitting "Submit" once or twice without thinking of the consequences, or in an effort to be the first person with news. So, just think before hitting that button.
