Roy did appear, physically on stage for the two phone calls. The show was virtually the same as it appeared on Broadway with directional changes here and there to accomodate theatres around the country with prosceniums. There were actually parts of the tour that I enjoyed more than the Broadway production.
and Katie Clark was fantastic when I saw her (closing night of the tour-Chicago) and I really had disliked her on the PBS broadcast...she a joy to watch that night though. The whole experience was one of my favorite theatre experiences ever...
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
Old debate... the PBS broadcast did her no favors. I saw her at the beginning of her run in NY, and thought she was very good. But I agree with you re: her on tour... she was a revelation. Loved her even moreso on the road.
I didn't like David's Fabrizio. His acting and singing were weak, IMO. Katie was a mess vocally on the PBS broadcast, but to say that her acting was incredible would be a huge understatement. She was even better on tour.
Glad to hear Katie Clark has gotten better. I saw a good many of her performances in the Vivian Beaumont and really did not like her at all. She was like a kid playing "let's pretend". She also had an unfortunate and unflattering tendency to squat when reaching for a note.
Who plays (played?) Guiseppe on the tour, and did he do his little dance for Fabrizio when he was trying to teach him how to court Clara as he did on Broadway?
Thanks. It wasn't in the show pre-Broadway, and I'd thought that it might have been added in order to showcase Berresse's (Broadway's Guiseppe) dancing.
