Ok..I got what I expected to get out of the show. It was cheesy, groan-worthy at times, and over-the-top in multiple ways. But that doesn't make it a good show.
The noteworthy: the cast & the choreography. Errico is such an incredible talent. 'I Love A Piano' was fun (if a bit pointless) and you can't help but smile at the finale.
The book is pretty horrendous. A paper-thin plot line, ridiculously undeveloped characters and relationship, blah blah blah.
I mean...its stupid, pointless, and stale. But that's what I expected. I was also (and I've never seen the movie) disappointed that there was only one Christmas song in the entire show. I was expecting cheeseball Christmasy fun and I got that minus the Christmas part.
I guess ** out of **** covers it.

I wanted to post in Yankeefan's thread but didn't want to be a wet blanket. Saw the show today and was bored out of my mind and reminded constantly of the awful "Tin Pan Alley Rag" that played this summer.
Errico nailed her solo performance song though. wow.

She really needs to do GUYS AND DOLLS.
I just hope she's not as boring as she was in this. Talk about shining despite going through the motions.

Posted: 12/18/09 at 11:43pmThanks for your review. For some reason, the show just didn't do it for me this year. I saw it two years ago in Boston, and again last year on Broadway, and rather enjoyed myself. This time around, I was completely bored (with the exception of the tap numbers).

Posted: 12/18/09 at 11:51pmI was extremely disappointed that it wasn't over the top holiday fun. I thought it was great at times but dreadful at others. The little girl and the receptionist lady were both dreadful.

Posted: 12/18/09 at 11:56pmMelissa Errico was completely miscast in this role. I am saying this as someone who usually adores her. She doesn't have the right voice for the part, and as such "Love You've Done Me Wrong" bored me to tears. White Christmas is my favorite movie of all time, and nobody's version of that song will ever top Rosemary Clooney's for me. That being said, however, Errico didn't even come close. It was a stiff as a board performance. The true starts of this show are Mara Davi and Tony Yazbek.
