Hi,
Here are a few suggestions:
The District (at the Muse Hotel- liked the ambiance)
Patsy's (Italian food down the street from the Gershwin)
Carmine's (family style Italian restaurant, but nice- reservations are necessary as this is a popular, really good place)
Redeye Grill (I think that's the name...I ate there a few years ago and liked it)
Smith and Wollensky (I think there is one near the Gershwin)
Visa Versa (this is supposed to be really good Italian, but we were not able to get a reservation there)
I hope this helps! Another idea is to go to www.opentable.com and see what restaurants have reservations.
Have a wonderful time!

Posted: 7/1/04 at 4:24pmThere are good restaurants all over the theater district. There is a website for New York Restaurants also. I suggest you make reservations. The ones right in the vicinity of the theater district get very crowded. There is also "restaurant row" on 46th Street which gives you many choices. Bon Appetite.

Sardi's is a bit on the $$ side, but John's Pizza is quite good for simple fair. My advice is to look for the smaller holes in the wall many are quite good. Also check out the Upper West Side, lots of great places along Amsterdam and Columbus.

I enjoy The Playwright on 49th. It's a pub/restaurant with suprisingly ambitious cuisine and the prices are good. Lot's of show folk eat there between their matinee and evenings on Wed's.
Bon Appetite!

Budget: The Edison Cafe on 47th cheap as can be and they throw the food at you. A great NYC experience and you never know who will be there last time i was there it was full of theater people. The soup is great skip the burgers as they are inedible.
West Side Sushi pretty good sushi and affordable prices.
Ruby Foo's more of a scene but excellent pan asian at moderate prices.
Heartland Brewery- The best springrolls in the theater district.
An orgasm waiting to happen. Stick with the appetizers as they are excellent and better then the entrees.
Blue Fin- The best sushi and fish in the Times Square area.
Small portions but excellent and you get what you pay for.
So hip it hurts atmosphere. Great for a date or a special occassion. One of my favorite places to eat in this City.

FIREBIRD is a fun and yes expensive dining experience. Good food.
Does anyone know if TOUT VA BIEN is still around?
I used to love it. It's located around 51st, just west of 8th Ave on the North side of the street.

Posted: 7/1/04 at 11:41pmI love John's Pizza. I go there every time I'm in the city. I haven't had a bad meal there. (The pizza is really good) It's on 44th, next to the St. James.

I love to drink at Firebird. They make great cocktails and the wine is always fresh. A romantic place to pop the question.
The place is so romantic.

I agree with the Times! I never read the review.
I know from eating there.
It is really orgasmic.
YUM.
I actually love all of Steve Hanson's restaurants and my favorite is Blue Water Grill.

Blue Water Grill is great!
Is Flute still a popular place for drinks? We love it, but have only gone on off nights (Mondays or Tuesdays).
