shows that need to be made into films

After watching Cabaret last night, I started thinking about shows that need to be turned into movies. One idea I had was a pippin movie where Pippin is watching magic to do at a theater and is then pulled off stage. The movie could end with Pippin walking out. Any other ideas for film?

I would love to see Curtains (also written by Kander and Ebb) be made into a movie I think it would be really cool!

Ok how about a film of Nine that doesn't suck?

I posted it because Mr. Nowack might not be aware that a film version of NINE was made. But thanks for your helpful comment. Why don't you start a thread "Shows that need to be made into films that don't suck" and I'll be sure not to post a link to the NINE film there.

I followed that link and all I saw was a great big pile of very famous excrement. I don't see what your point was.

You suggested it be made into a movie and I simply posted a link indicating that it was thinking you might not be aware of it.. If the movie didn't meet your high, exacting standards then you could have easily said in your initial comment you're hoping for a better version than the film that was made. But feel free to be a complete dick about it.

Ok, calm down Mr. Marshall we all thought your movie was great. *wink wink*

There should most definitely be a Cabaret remake based on the Marshall/mendes revival.

I also think Matilda, Sunday in the Park and parade would do quite well.

It'd be insanely tricky, but I'd love a great film version of COMPANY. I've actually thought a lot about how it could be done. It would have to be an independent film from an auteur director, though. Anyone trying to slap a plot onto it or impose a typical hollywood structure would ruin the material. It has to be both cinematic and follow the loose structure of the show. If done right it could be amazing, if done wrong it would be an absolute train-wreck.

I'd also think a Fun Home movie would be incredible.

It's called sarcasm Mr Flying-off-the-handle. I prefer not to acknowledge what I consider to be a terrible movie.

Isn't the answer to this always whatever shows you like?

To be honest, there aren't many movie musicals I care for....I prefer them on the stage.
