tick, tick..., BOOM! is very reminiscent of Rent. If you like one, you'll probably like the other.
I recognize the addiction to being alive.

I totally agree with Bright Lights, Big City, and Tick, Tick, Boom
I did not find Aida anything like RENT....and am probably one of the few who did not like Aida
It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story...

Elphaba, it certainly doesn't sound like Rent and much as something like BLBC does, but it's still pop/rock.

Elphaba, I know many people who HATE Aida. I personally don't know it well enough to have an opinion, but you aren't alone.

Jesus Christ Superstar isn't at all like Rent, but I'd recommend it to someone who likes Rent.

Just kidding-- I remember that was like the first musical I really started listening to then I switched over to RENT for awhile. I have no idea why but I always like to mix ALW with RENT and Wicked they sound so different yet they complement eachother :)
