I heard they're REALLY uncomfortable if you win the lottery
Has anyone sat in them?
Also, i'm seeing a show this week--should it be spelling bee. light in the piazza, or drowsy chaperone first?

The Light in the Piazza.
See it before it closes on July 2.

I thought you were talking about the bleachers they sit on stage.......I always wondered if it moved on its own, or if the cast has to push it.
If you win the lotto, you sit in bleachers?
Can anyone tell me why it's closing in July?
I know it's been out for a while but not THAT long.
Yeah, my sister said they're like little bleachers right in the front.

...there are bleachers on stage...I believe the lottery seats are for front row SEATS though. Real ones--if I remember correctly.
Can anyone tell me why it's closing in July?
I know it's been out for a while but not THAT long.
It was originally a limited engagement and supposed to close June 12th 2005, but then it got extended all this time, and I guess the numbers it was selling at didn't warrant another extension...
And I think the lotto seats are bleacher like and very low to the ground...
Being I haven't seen it I couldn't tell ya.
But according to my sister, they're like little bleachers with a small cushion on them.

They aren't bleachers like the ones that are on stage, but yeah - they are low to the ground and have a little cushion. I didn't think it was too uncomfortable, although my knees really did hurt by the end of the show.

Does anyone find it funny that the title of the thread is spelled wrong?
If you are tall, they could pose a problem. However, for the average person I think you should be fine.

I won lotto tonight and sat in the bleachers in the front row...if anything, my neck was hurting from looking up the whole show and the occasional lights in my eyes was a little difficult, but otherwise, it was a great experience!
last time i was there i was wondering that too (about whether or not the bleachers on stage move on their own) and i looked specifically for that and i'm pretty sure the cast moves it. and theres tape marks as guides for where it goes. it rotates and then moves a little on a track for the "life is pandemonium" scene but the cast does it all =)
Just to clear any confusion Chicago lotto seats are real seats, and I think San Fran too. Just NY has the bleachers.
I love sitting on the benches in front at Bee, but they are rather uncomfortable.
They are SUPER uncomfortable, and if you are over 20 you will feel it in your back without an intermission. I would have rather had a real seat, but for 20 bucks..who cares?
I've never really wondered if the cast pushes the bleachers or not. I just assumed they did. I've always wanted to know what the cast members are whispering in the audience participants ears.
LITP is closing July 2nd because Lincoln Center wont let it extend again...
Aaron Lazar said in his blog how they are all so perplexed as to why such a successful wonderful show is being forced to close, but they want to use the Beaumont for other things...

Phew! I thought you said SPELLING bee was closing... and has anyone noticed how off-topic this is getting?
i reccomend bringing a sweater to sit on, and also, if anyone throws stuff in the audience, raise your hand, and they'll throw stuff at you!

The Chicago Bee is closing in September, right? I thought it was an open-ended run?

I sat in the bleachers and had no problem with it. I thought they were great and not uncomfortable at all. They are "bleachers" as in not individual seats, but they are cushioned both on the bottom and the back. The are kind of low to the ground, but I had fun in them. You are really close to the cast, and Jesse practically climbs right over you. The cast does puch the bleachers themselves, I'm almost positive. During the show they push down the lock thing that keeps them in place all show. And it certainly looks like they are pushing them.
It always looked to me like Chip started them off at least pushing them and then someone else must have continued it. Well, I might be going later, so I'll try and watch for it.
Chicago is open run! Ah! Stop all the rumors!

No, I didn't mean to perpetuate rumors, but I just read it on like BroadwayAcrossAmerica.com or something. Or maybe they're just selling tickets until then.
