I don't think Ellen's impression on the role helped Kerry very much, but other than this she just struck me as very bland. She did her best to make the character her own and did a good job, but when she was singing she bored the death out of me. I noticed it during both Skid Row and Somewhere That's Green-she just STANDS there, with the same expression on her face the entire song. Her blandness while singing took away from her overall performance and did not leave a strong impression with me.

I loved Little Shop and I loved Kerry, I think she should really win! I think her performance was great and ** I know most of you will hate me ** much better than Ellen Greene.

TONY VOTERS, VOTE FOR KERRY BUTLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would LOOOVEEE Idina because I think her performance is much more challenging yet played just as well as Kristen's but I have to agree with the general oppinion and say that Kristen will probably win re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re:...don't get me wrong though, I looveed her too!

hey all..newbie here:

Donna Murphy will win her 3rd Tony because Idina and Kristen should cancel each other out by the voters.

I sure hope nothing gets nominated from Little Shop.
I thought it was trash.
Kathleen Marshall will gets nods i'm sure for either/both WT and LSOH..though I don't like her direction at all.

But I won't live alone in a house of regret.

Personally, I would choose Idina. Don't get me wrong, I love Kristen as Glinda, I think she's perfect for the role - but Idina as Elphaba made more of a shall we say, impact. Considering the fact that she's supposed to be "wicked" but I found myself identifying with her more than the "popular" good witch. Yes, yes, I know this was the point, what I'm saying is Idina pulled it off VERY well, so my vote (if I had one) goes to her Re: The Tony!

I kept hearing from people around christmas time that the main competition was between donna and kristen...with donnas earlty absences hurting her, giving kristen edge. Now i hear kristen is the one suffering from the absences. She can especially be hurting herself if tony voters go see the show and see laura bell instead. No matter how good the performance is if a voter doesnt see it, or has to come back to see it that is not a vote for them. but it is only march....come may is when we will really start hearing the buzz........my guess is donna though showing the voters she can do comedy as well as the heavy drama..

My vote goes to Idina. I'm sorry but Kristin won't get it. Donna probaly will get it, but if she doesn't, Idina has it in the bag. I mean in the broadway.com articl they talked about that big snowstor and how Idina managedto make it back all the way from Toronto, and Kristin was out sick. How's that for a trooper!

after seeing kristen, idina, and donna here are a few of my thoughts: the one performance that truly blew me away was Idina...dont get me wrong, Donna is incredible talented and does a fantastic job with ruth in wonderful town, and if votes do end up splitting b/w the wicked girls, she will probably get the tony, but her work wasn't something where you call your friend to tell them about it during intermission...that also has to do with the way the show is set up too though, i know...kristen is fabulous as Glinda as we all know, and it shows off her range and comedic timing beautifully, but i wasn't in "shock and awe" after seeing her, it was simply a marvelous performance, which though they may be hard to come by, still wasnt tony worthy in my opinion...the other thing with kristen is that after seeing laura bell do glinda, i realized that laura was able to play hte part the exact same way and get the same laughs and audience appreciation and love, and Idina still stodd out the second time, even though I knew what she was going to do...So for the above confuddled list of muddled and confused notes, i would say Idina really is the one who deserves the tony in my mind....but you never know....
always,
~m~

the big difference is I think Idina REALLY wants to win the Tony where as Kristin could care less cause she has one and has so many other things going on right now (a movie and another show)....

I wasn't inferring such..I was just looking at it from another perspective.. we are talking about who WE think will win or deserves it... how about how we think THEY think about it...

just a spin on the topic :)

Could it be possible that Idina or Kristen get nominated for supporting?? I don't think it's possible, because they were both the leads, but is there, even a 1% chance, that either could get supporting??

I really hope it doesn't come down to that, though. I really hope Idina wins for lead.

Neither would get supporting, they are leads and billed as such.

i think there is a good chance that they both could win. idina for actress and cheno for supporting. i think that if they both get nom's for best actress they could cancel each other out with votes, so if the show campaigns for the girls, you would think that they would wise up to this.

but that's just what i think.

Kristin all the way. And I've never been a huge fan. Idina may be the star, but Kristin knows how to act in a musical. Too bad the role of Elphaba was written so poorly. Idina does fine with it, love her singing, but I Kristin steals the show- she uses every line to her advantage. There is no Wicked without her.
