Spoke to Michael B. over at A Chorus Line the other day and he mentioned that a ToS transfer is VERY possible for Broadway in January.
Anyone know anything about this, besides what I already mentioned?

As much as I absolutely love this show, I can't imagine it playing well at all on Broadway - it's a small, no-frills, no-star, often inside-joke show. But if it does, I tip my hat to the producers of it for willing to stand behind it for a transfer.
Cute show, but it would crash and burn on Broadway, even if they played in the Helen Hayes.
Did you end up seeing the show, munk?
In some capacity, yes.
Cute and mindless, but not something I would see again, or pay to see again.
What capacity was that?
Um...not...live.
It's a terrfic show but done in an intimate space. I don't imagine it doing well on a Broadway stage. But I would see it again, it was fun just like The Musical of Musicals!! Loved every minute of it.
Why don't we let it get to Broadway first and then decide if it will work or not?
It has nothing to do with the material working or not working.
It might have a respectable run at Dodger stages or something, but as far as ON Broadway, it's not going to work. The inside jokes are for theatre obsessed people, and the casual theatregoer from out of town is NOT going to spend a lot of money to see a play where they are going to feel like they are on the outside of an inside joke. I AM obsessed with theatre, and even I didn't find the play to be THAT great. Good, fun, nice, yes - but it isn't something that could ever enjoy a commercial or financial success in a Broadway house. Even at the Helen Hayes theatre, it would struggle.

Oh, for Christ's sake, they could barely fill the Vineyard theater without resorting to TDF. Bringing this show to Broadway would be
an act of sheer insane hubris and idiocy.

I'd rather see [title of show] again than a few things currently ON Broadway.
and Munk it ain't Dodger's Stages anymore.
You Imbecile!
but you are right, it's strictly Off Bway
and I think one of the best Off Bway.
I love the show to death, but only an idiot would put it on Broadway. I really don't even know if it's gonna be put up again in general.

The only way the show would work on Broadway is if an orchestra would be added (with a piano onstage) and more broad comedy was added, along with a set.
So with that...yeah, there's no way in hell the show would work in a Broadway theatre. You have to remember that Broadway is very commercial, and unless it wins every Tony in the book, it ain't gonna sell...
and more nudity is involved
(I mean Jeffi of course)

i'd like to see it on broadway, but from what im hearing from you all, it sounds like it probably wouldnt do that well
plus, we already have a major theatre shortage, anyways!
Cute show, but it would crash and burn on Broadway, even if they played in the Helen Hayes.

munk, with all due respect, you didn't see it. You bought the CD and have listened to it, but did not pay money and see the show live. The weekend before the show closed, you came onto the board and said you would not pay money to see it. And you just confirmed now that, in fact, you didn't see it. So feel free to express an opinion, but it's not fair to make judgments about a show ("it would crash and burn on Broadway") as though you saw it, when in fact you didn't. There is a lot of physical comedy and dialogue throughout that cannot be and was not captured on the CD.
That said, I'd be skeptical about the show hitting Broadway, but people were skeptical about SPELLING BEE and AVENUE Q. They started off in small Off-Broadway houses (Second Stage and The Vineyard, respectively) and they have become hits on Broadway. And look at SPRING AWAKENING. People were skeptical (and still are) about bringing it to Broadway, but it's still happening.
CurtainPullDowner, the fact that the show was constantly on TDF when it played Off-Broadway means nothing. I saw AVENUE Q twice Off-Broadway (in addition to SPELLING BEE once and SPRING AWAKENING once Off-Broadway), all through a papering service for $3 a ticket.
By "not live," I don't think munk meant that he was judging only by the CD, Foster.
Well live theater is live and is meant to be experienced as such.
There's not talk about bringing the show to DVD. The talk refers to bringing the live show to live Broadway.
I understand.
But I believe munk has seen the show.
Just...not live.
I really liked this show too (saw it twice at the Vineyard), but it would be a huge flop on Broadway. It should not transfer.
am i the only one who thought Hunter was the hotter one?
I'm sure you weren't the only one, folky. Neither one was really my type...both were too young...but if I had to choose, I would have picked Jeff.
